Demi Chef de Partie

The Rupert Museum Cafe invites applications for a Demi Chef de Partie to join our team. The Demi Chef de Partie will be responsible for preparing and serving food, as well as assisting with beverages, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and inviting cafe environment. Front-of-house experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities,

assist the Cafe Chef in ensuring high standards of culinary excellence by supporting food preparation, cooking, and presentation:

Preparing Ingredients: Chopping, marinating, and seasoning foods as instructed by Cafe Chef.

Assisting in Cooking: Helping in the preparation and cooking of dishes, ensuring each food item is prepared to the highest standards.

Maintaining Cleanliness: Ensuring all working areas in the kitchen are clean and orderly.

Stock Management: Keeping track of stock levels and ensuring ingredients are used efficiently.

Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.

Perform related tasks as required from the Cafe Chef.

Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth and efficient cafe operations.

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the cafe.

Follow Health & Safety requirements for kitchen space in liaison with the Cafe Chef.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

Grade 12 Matriculation.

South African citizen.

Previous experience in a fast-paced cafe or restaurant setting preferred.

Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines.

Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.

Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Excellent communication skills, English and Afrikaans.

At least two years' experience in Food service industry, cooking/catering.

Good food and beverage knowledge; dietary requirements etc.

Ability to problem solve and think on their feet.
