Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies' Distribution Centre in Gqeberha (Eastern Cape) has an opportunity available for an Outbound Supervisor to join the team. The main purpose of this role will be to achieve operational excellence within the Dis-Chem Distribution centre incorporating functions in necessary areas, ensuring that both legal and customer requirements are met. As a Supervisor, you will learn managerial and technical skills that are in alignment with the company's mission, its retailing philosophies and its operational strategies.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • 1 Years relevant experience, in a Distribution, Logistics or Supply Chain Environment
Advantageous:
  • Supply-Chain or Logistics Degree or Diploma
  • Previous work experience in an Ethical/Pharmaceutical Warehouse
  • Experience with SAP, EWM or other ERP systems
Job Specification:
  • Learning new skills as per department's requirements
  • Participate in all employee related management functions
  • Under the guidance of an experienced manager, you will participate in all employee-related management functions including training, coaching, motivation, discipline, performance appraisal, conflict resolution, and the administration of human resources policies and initiatives
  • Prevent and act on security or risk issues and ensure that risks are dealt with proactively
  • Analyse and interpret any shrinkage indicators and act accordingly
  • Collaborate with Distribution Centre employees and other staff to ensure business goals are met
  • Ensure that all safety regulations are met
  • Optimal planning and forecasting of department resources to meet the daily objectives
  • Ensure that the system is monitored and cleaned up by using the management tools available on SAP EWM
  • Ensure that all stock is received and packed away and accurately maintained on the system
  • Involved with implementation and optimization of new projects related to improving the efficiency of operations as instructed by Management
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained and in safe operating conditionsEnsure that picking/ replenishment stats are monitored to ensure that productivity and accuracy targets are met.
  • Optimal planning and forecasting of department resources to meet the daily objectives
  • Ensure that the system is monitored and cleaned up by using the management tools available on SAP EWM
  • Ensure that all stock is received and packed away and accurately maintained on the system
  • Involved with implementation and optimization of new projects related to improving the efficiency of operations as instructed by Management
  • Ensure that picking/ replenishment stats are monitored to ensure that productivity and accuracy targets are met
  • Ensure that resources and queues are monitored and optimised as per operational requirements
  • Ensure that put away and replenishments are done efficiently as per operational requirements
  • Ensure that checking staff maintains a high standard of accuracy during the checking process
  • Ensure that stock is packed in the correct size boxes/ totes and is correctly sealed and labelled
  • Ensure that all stock leaving their area is scanned and all discrepancies are resolved
  • Be security conscious at all times and avoid committing theft or fraud
  • Ensure that stock is packed in a manner that will prevent cross-contamination and damages during transport to stores
  • Ensure that once checked that: Either the pack-slip is included in the box or label with the description of goods in the Stock box or tote
  • Do not allow stock to be removed from the Distribution Centre, without proper documentation or the approval of the manager/ pharmacist
  • Ensure targets set by management are met and reported

  • Have knowledge of the business measures and targets, directly related to own role.
  • Demonstrate thorough theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of all Distribution Centre, logistics and supply chain operations
