Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies' Distribution Centre in Gqeberha (Eastern Cape) has an opportunity available for a DC Inbound Manager to join the team. The main purpose of this role will be to achieve operational excellence within the Dis-Chem Distribution Centres, incorporating inbound management predominantly. Demonstrate understanding in receiving, warehousing, picking/ packing, replenishment, manifesting/ marshalling and dispatch, in order to meet legal and operational requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Relevant Degree/Diploma in Logistics or Supply Chain Management
  • Minimum 5 Years relevant experience in Distribution, Logistics or Supply Chain Environment
  • Computer Literacy
Advantageous:
  • Relevant experience in the field of Logistics/Supply Chain Management
  • Experience in the Retail/Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Experience with SAP, EWM or other ERP systems
Job Specification:
  • Ensure all supplier deliveries are received, checked, processed and put away within agreed timelines and according to Dis-Chem Policies and procedures
  • Notify appropriate departments when supplier non-conformance or shortage or overages are found
  • Ensure all transfers happen according to standard operating procedures
  • Give regular and accurate feedback to the Logistics Manager
  • Manage and interpret inbound related issues
  • Analyse and interpret all potential departmental shrinkage indicators and act accordingly
  • Plan the delivery schedules and staff requirements
  • Maintain a stock rotation on an inventory based on FEFO (First Expiry First Out) principle
  • Work with suppliers, replenishment buyers and merchants to address Inbound issues in a timely and cost- effective Manner
  • Maintain and analyse reports to indicate progress on key performance indicators
  • Set up continuous processes to eliminate recurring short falls and organisation challenges
  • Ensure expired and reject stock are dealt with on a timely basis and according to necessary SHE standards
  • Manage shelf life to ensure no short dated and/or expired stock is received as per Dis-Chem policies
  • Work with QA team to ensure stock is on the acceptable industry standard
  • Achieve and maintain acceptable adjustment figures within the Inbound department
  • Ensure optimal planning and forecasting of department resources and capacity to meet the day-to-day strategic objectives
  • Anticipate issues and opportunities and act on them pro-actively- be solution focused
  • Develop and Implement solutions for addressing seasonal demand, shipments and/or unique packaging
  • Ensure that "Return to Vendor" is monitored, kept up to date and is accurately completed as per Dis-Chem Policies
  • Ensure that Reverse Logistics policies and procedures are properly carried out and kept up to date
  • Ensure that all new products are received, Master data updated, DIM's completed and all other necessary requirements completed
before sending out to the Distribution Centre * Manage the safe storage, exchanging and flow of Dis-Chem, CHEP and EURO pallets
  • Ensure effective management and maintenance of resources, including electronic equipment and materials handling equipment
Competencies:
Essential:
  • English - Read, write and speak well
  • Microsoft - Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Management Systems, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, Public Safety and Security, Customer Service, Transportation Principles and Methods, Material Handling Standards
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Store and Distribution receiving procedures with regard to ordering, receiving and stocking
  • Demonstrate thorough theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of all Distribution Centre, logistics and supply chain operations
  • Knowledge of relevant Labour Relations Acts, industry standards and training objectives
  • Be able to function within a given budget, set up a budget, read and interpret financial reports and act accordingly
  • Ability to supervise staff and demonstrate personal initiative
