Job Summary A well-established technology-driven company is seeking a versatile Database Administrator to manage and maintain databases, servers, and cloud systems. This role spans across database performance, infrastructure reliability, security compliance, and user support- making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety and ownership.
You'll work with a wide range of technologies and contribute to the stability and scalability of the organization's IT landscape.
Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases
• Optimize queries, indexing, and storage usage
• Automate routine DBA tasks and maintain documentation
• Implement and test backup and recovery strategies
• Configure user access and enforce database security
• Install and maintain Windows and Linux servers
• Support services like Active Directory, DNS, IIS, and FreeRADIUS
• Manage virtual environments (VMware, Hyper-V) and web services (Apache, NGINX, Docker)
• Apply patches and monitor system performance
• Support antivirus, firewall, and endpoint security platforms
• Assist with backup strategy (3-2-1), restore procedures, and disaster recovery
• Support Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace environments
• Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity and assist with VPN monitoring

Education:

• Minimum: Matric / Grade 12
• Preferred: Diploma or certification in IT (e.g. CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, Linux+)
• SQL Server certifications advantageous

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years in IT support and systems administration
• At least 3 years in database administration (MSSQL and MySQL)
• Experience with Windows and Linux servers in production environments
• Familiarity with helpdesk systems and end-user support

Skills:

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Solid understanding of server infrastructure and data environments
• Working knowledge of networking basics (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPN)
