Who are we?

Sanlam Group Technology is responsible for the provision of a digitally enabled technology service as a group COE, drive business and transformation and provide group-wide digital and data architecture. We operate the various technology platforms and shared services, ensure Cyber and Information Security resilience, and act as technology governance and risk orchestrator for technology across Sanlam.

What will you do?

The Data Visualisation Developer is a platform specialist with advanced analytical and technical skills. They are responsible for understanding data structures and utilizing various data sources to develop visualisation solutions.

This is a challenging and rewarding role for a highly motivated and skilled data visualisation engineer with a passion for building innovative data solutions.

What will make you successful in this role?

• Gather and prepare data from various sources. This includes cleaning, transforming and formatting data for visualization.
• Design and develop data visualizations that are clear, concise, and effective. This includes choosing the right data visualization techniques and tools for the job.
• Work with stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements. This includes understanding the business goals, target audience, and data limitations.
• Deploy and maintain data visualizations. This includes ensuring that data visualizations are accessible and reliable.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest data visualization trends and technologies. This includes learning about new data visualization techniques, tools and platforms.
• Collaborate with other data scientists, analysts and engineers. This includes working on cross-functional projects and sharing knowledge and expertise.

Qualification

Grade 12
National Diploma in an IT-related discipline or bachelor's degree in computer science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or any quantitative field (preferred)

Experience:

Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Data Visualisation Engineer in a BI environment using either of the following tools:
o QlikView or QlikSense
o SAP Business Objects
o Power BI
o Domo
o IBM Planning Analytics
Excellent SQL skills and experience in SQL development with procedural extensions.
Experience with agile development methodologies

Knowledge:

Front-end development and known visualization best practices
Qlik Sense best practices in order to deliver effective Qlikview and QlikSense solutions to the users
Structured data, such as entities, classes, hierarchies, relationships and metadata
Database management system (DBMS) physical implementation, including tables, joins and SQL querying
