The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) is a public entity under the National Department of Science and Innovation.

The following opportunity exists in the Earth Observation Programme, to be filled by an individual with the relevant skills, drive, competencies, and qualifications.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will Implement SANSAxe2x80x99s sensor portfolio strategy and manage and provide accurate data regarding Earth Observation (EO) to relevant stakeholders.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Implement Sensor Portfolio Strategy.
• Data Products and Services Strategy Development and Implementation.
• Data Distribution Management.
• Financial and Procurement Management.
• People Management

The ideal candite must have the following qualifications and experience:

• Honours or Postgraduate degree in Geoinformatics and Remote Sensing, Computer Science, or related qualification.
• Extensive experience (>10 years) in Remote Sensing, GIS, or related field.
• Demonstrated 5 years of experience managing diverse teams.
• Excellent knowledge of Earth Observation data products, processing levels, and applications.
• Understanding of optical imaging instrument characteristics.
• Familiarity with Product Management processes and Agile development methodologies.
• Confident working in a client-facing context with demonstrable experience in value-added services.
• Ability to undertake and structure market analysis.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Uses own initiative and works towards finding solutions.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to organize self and prioritize workload.
• Competent IT skills.
• Understanding of data product licensing.
