To ensure data management processes are in place to produce the most accurate and credible data
Location:
Edendale Lay Ecumencial Center Clinic, Edendale, Pietermaritzburg
Key performance areas:
Meet relevant stakeholders for planning and identifying data requirements
Determine database requirements/specifications in line with the project
Design Case Report Forms (CRF) according to protocol (project specific) and maintain study files
Testing and making sure that databases are set up correctly including variable validation, skip patterns etc.
Sending routine reports to project managers
Send query reports timeously to project teams and ensure these queries are resolved timeously
Train users on databases at the start of the project and when required
Ensure that training registers and CRF completion guidelines are signed off and submitted to Principal Investigator before the start of the project
Identify users and grant access levels accordingly before the start of the project and when required
Implement changes on the database throughout the course of the project and re-test to ensure efficient and correct operation thereof
Facilitate processes to synchronise data with servers and other datasets
Retrieval and consolidation of electronic medical imagery and audio collected throughout projects including the standardised labelling and storage of them
Configuring and managing follow-up trackers / reminders for projects
Asset management insofar as setting up and tracking electronic equipment
Process randomization requests and reporting on progress for those that have taken place
Involved in the planning and setting up of projects that use IoT, wearables, image and sound analyses, etc.
Assist with any ad hoc data management related work
Required minimum education and training:
Matric
Diploma in a Data Management field such as Computer Science, Public Health Information Management
Fluent in English and IsiZulu
Valid drivers license and able to drive manual vehicle
Required minimum work experience:
1 2 year's of Clinical Data Management experience within a research environment
1 2 year's experience in Clinical Data Collection, Clinical Trials or Research
1 2 year's in patient interaction or healthcare settings
RedCap project building (advanced)
Advanced Excel usage (complex formula coding, reporting and problem solving)
Human Subjection Protection Certificate (HSPC) will be advantageous
TRREE (Training and Resources in Research Ethics Evaluation) will be advantageous
Good Clinical Practice Certificate (GCP) will be an advantageous
Electronic data systems (e.g RedCap) and Excel

STATA / SAS Programming
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
Programming (such as Python, R, SQL etc)
Attention to detail accurate data entry is critical
Basic medical terminology helpful for understanding case report forms (CRFs) and clinical records
Good communication skills for working with clinical staff, patients and research coordinators
Innovative, solution driven and proven problem-solving abilities
Exposure with IoT projects and or medical wearables
Staff management
Ability to work independently and within a team
Ability to delegate and follow up
