Data & Financial Reporter - Intelligent Insurer - Insurance Group

R20,000 per month

Remote only - South Africa

Intelligent Insurer is looking for an experienced journalist or editor with a strong interest in reporting on data and financial reports. You will have several years experience already under your belt, ideally writing about re/insurance or risk transfer and are looking to progress your career. Initially reporting to the Director of Publications you will have day-to-day responsibility for producing high-level editorial content for Intelligent Insurer that is unique and insightful and of value to our subscribers.

What youxe2x80x99ll be doing

As Data and Financial Reporter uou will be responsible for producing content primarily for Intelligent Insurer but potentially other related titles in the group.

You will work as part of a wider editorial team covering other titles including Bermuda:Re+ILS and Captive International reporting directly to the Director of Publications. You will need to be able to prioritise your workload and meet the demands of various team members and deadlines.

You should be comfortable understanding financial reports and other relevant data in the context of this industry and have the expertise to translate this information into engaging and insightful features and reports.

Responsibilities will include

• Responsible for producing high quality features and reports based around data and financial analysis for Intelligent Insurer.
• Responsible for developing unique editorial content from concept through to publication (in collaboration with the team).
• Capable of speaking to and interviewing senior executives to gain additional insights and also understand what content would be of value to them.
• Setting up internal schedules to help us create a publishing schedule that aligns with the rest of the team.
• Able to set up surveys and questionnaires to seek additional information from companies.
• The ability to then decipher and analyse raw data to offer insights and useful information.
• Sending out requests for additional information.
• Liaising with other third parties and experts.
• Carrying out industry research.

Requirements

What you will need

The ideal candidate will consider accuracy and attention to detail a key measure of success, have exceptional organisational skills, a keen interest in data, financial reports and numbers, and the ability to communicate with external stakeholders of all levels in a professional and friendly manner. The capability to thrive under pressure will ensure success in this role as working on multiple projects simultaneously will be required. We are looking for a tenacious team player that is confident in taking ownership of their responsibilities, developing unique content from scratch but even more confident in asking for help when they need it.

Experience

• 5 years+ experience working in B2B journalism as an editor or senior reporter.

Essential skills

• A deep understanding of data and financial reports in the context of large companies.
• The ability to translate this information into unique, readable reports and features.
• A knowledge of the editorial process: from concept to delivery to design and production.
• An in-depth knowledge of the insurance and reinsurance markets and wider risk transfer landscape.
• An understanding of the global economic landscape/key trends.
• Able to manage a demanding and diverse workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Good news sense and headline writing ability.
• The ability to adjust to and meet tight deadlines.
• The ability to process vast quantities of information but always remain accurate.
• The ability to pick up a subject matter quickly and become self-sufficient.
• Excellent organisational abilities and ability to manage several tasks concurrently.
• The drive to develop products by suggesting new and innovative platforms and ideas.
• The ability to diplomatically deal with external contacts, including senior executives.
• Demonstrate a team working ethos and have a willingness to learn.
• Be prepared to xe2x80x98go the extra milexe2x80x99.
• Have excellent communication skills, telephone manner and excellent written English.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification in media, journalism or related subjects although not essential if you have subsequent career experience.
• Fluent English speaker.
• Proficient at using different IT systems including Microsoft Office, Google G-Suite, website CMSxe2x80x99s (WordPress or similar) and able to pick up technology easily.
