Purpose of the Job

The purpose of this role is to utilise multiple sources of data both internal and external to define and develop insights and strategies that align with marketing and business objectives to grow market share with a customer centric focus.

Using this data with predictive modelling you will have a direct impact on shaping tactical and strategic initiatives that drive the customer experiences in line with marketing objectives and strategies. This role takes a hands-on approach to examining internal and external data to help improve revenue generation, reduce costs, and enhance operational performance through data analysis, and where appropriate, build prototype models to support Shoprite IT in the creation of sophisticated algorithms or models. Skills in survey analysis and extrapolation to represent the demographic of South Africa will be a key component of the job

This role is essential to support our customer-centric strategic drivers by increasing the level of data science applied to our business practices and customer experiences

Job Objectives

• Work closely with the marketing and customer insights teams to provide valuable data-driven insights for strategic decision-making.

• Develop and maintain Tableau dashboards to visualize key performance indicators and trends.

• Utilize AWS and Python for data analysis, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

• Build Alteryx workflows to streamline data processing and analysis.

• Conduct sentiment analysis to understand customer preferences and feedback.

• Perform competitor analysis to assess market share and identify growth opportunities.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven initiatives.

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering).

• +3 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in a Data Analyst or similar role, solving complex business and technology problems through applying data analysis techniques within a fast-paced environment xe2x80x93 (essential).

• Experience applying data mining, modelling and mathematical and/or statistical concepts and methodology to support strategic business objectives xe2x80x93 (essential).

• Experience in a retail, commercial or IT environment xe2x80x93 (highly desired).

• Proficient in SQL for data extraction and analysis.

• Strong expertise in building and maintaining Tableau dashboards.

• Familiarity with AWS, Python, and Alteryx.

• Exposure to delivering project outcomes using design thinking, lean and agile principles

• Strong proficiency in MS Office 365 with advanced Excel skills xe2x80x93 (essential).
