Job Description

Purpose of the Role:

Responsible for overseeing the cutting department and ensuring the precise cutting of fabrics.

Key Responsibilities:

Execute precise cutting of fabric according to specified patterns, measurements, and design requirements. Supervise and provide guidance to the team of cutters, ensuring efficient workflow, adherence to production schedules and scores. Ensure cut sheets and other relevant documents are in order and updated timeously. Maintain high standards of quality by inspecting cut pieces for defects and ensuring accuracy in dimensions. Manage and track fabric inventory, ensuring materials are readily available for production. Oversee the maintenance and repair of cutting machinery to ensure safety and optimal performance. Enforce safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe working environment for all team members. Train new employees in cutting techniques, safety procedures, and quality standards. Collaborate with other departments, sewing, and quality control, to ensure the smooth flow of production. Escalate and communicate any challenges to the production manager. Monitor and control cutting department expenses, seeking opportunities for cost-saving measures. Maintain accurate records and reports related to production, inventory, and quality control. Follow all safety and quality procedures and standards. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Any other duties that may be delegated by the relevant manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

Grade 12 Senior Certificate Proven experience as a Cloth Cutter or similar role Knowledge of different fabrics and their cutting requirements Ability to read and understand technical patterns and specifications Strong attention to detail and precision Good communication and teamwork skills Ability to work efficiently under pressure
