Purpose of the role:
The Curriculum Design Specialist at Eduvos acts as the institutional authority on curriculum design, supporting academic staff, management and industry partners in shaping transformative qualification structures. This role ensures that curriculum frameworks and program architectures are innovative, aligned with institutional strategy and national policies, and responsive to evolving educational and industry needs. The specialist leads the development and maintenance of guidelines, standards, and processes for curriculum design and coordinates the integration of digital technologies and future-focused approaches to teaching, learning, and assessment across Eduvos qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Master's degree, preferably Doctoral degree (PhD/DBA/EdD) in Curriculum Studies, Higher Education, Instructional Design, or non-related field with relevant experience
At least 8-10 years' experience in curriculum design and quality assurance in higher education, including leadership of large-scale programme design initiatives.
Preferred proven track record in programme accreditation and engagement with CHE, SAQA, or DHET.
Duties and Responsibilities
Create and maintain Eduvos's institutional curriculum design framework and Programme Architecture, ensuring consensus on programme type, level, duration, credit weightings, admission criteria, and delivery modalities in alignment with academic strategy and national policy.
Develop and regularly update guidelines, standards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for curriculum design, encompassing programme reviews, renewals, new accreditations, module sequencing, intake mapping, and delivery frequency.
Consult, train, and advise academic staff and stakeholders to build institutional capability in curriculum design, fostering capacity building and effective change management across faculties and qualifications.
Implement robust systems to measure the impact and effectiveness of curriculum changes on student outcomes, using data-driven approaches to inform continuous improvement.
Monitor curriculum design compliance across all faculties and qualifications, providing timely and accurate reports to inform institutional governance, including senate, committees, and boards.
Manage alignment of curriculum development with accreditation and renewal cycles, ensuring ongoing quality and compliance through systems thinking and collaborative stakeholder engagement.
Stay abreast of national and international best practices in curriculum design to ensure Eduvos programmes remain competitive and innovative.
Engage and collaborate internally with Deans, Heads of Programme, Programme Managers, Regulatory and Compliance teams, Academic Projects, Academic Planner Optimisation, National Professional Development, and Learning Technologies Specialist, and externally with industry advisory boards and global networks to drive curriculum innovation.
