Job Overview: We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Cruise Ship Chef to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa. As a Chef on our cruise ship, you will be responsible for creating and executing delicious and high-quality meals for our guests. You will work closely with our culinary team to ensure that all meals are prepared and presented to the highest standards, while also adhering to strict food safety and hygiene protocols. Responsibilities: - Create and execute menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner that cater to a diverse range of tastes and dietary restrictions - Manage inventory and ordering of food and supplies to ensure adequate stock levels - Oversee the preparation and cooking of all meals, ensuring that they are presented to the highest standards - Train and supervise junior chefs and kitchen staff - Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations and maintain a clean and organized kitchen at all times - Collaborate with other departments, such as the dining room staff, to ensure a seamless dining experience for our guests - Participate in menu planning and development for future cruises Requirements: - Minimum of 5 years experience as a Chef in a high-volume, fine dining establishment - Culinary degree or equivalent experience and training - Strong knowledge of various cuisines and cooking techniques - Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment - Excellent organizational and time-management skills - Strong leadership and communication skills - Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with other departments - Flexibility to work long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays - Must be able to pass a food safety and hygiene certification course Contract Details: This is a full-time, 6-month contract position with the possibility of extension.
