An engineering company, within the sustainable energy technologies sector, is seeking a Creditors Clerk & Accounts Assistant to support the finance team as a whole. This is a full-time, hybrid, 6-month fixed-term contract opportunity.
The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented and reliable finance professional who provides comprehensive support to the finance department by managing the full creditors' function with accuracy and efficiency. They will take ownership of processing supplier invoices, performing reconciliations, and maintaining strong, professional relationships with suppliers. The candidate will demonstrate a high level of precision in handling financial transactions, ensuring timely payments and compliance with company policies. In addition to creditors' responsibilities, they will offer accounting and administrative support, contributing to the smooth financial operation of the group. Strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
Creditors and Accounts Management:

  • Accurately process supplier invoices daily, ensuring correct allocation to supplier and general ledger accounts for all companies within the group.
  • Perform monthly creditor's reconciliations and prepare age analysis commentary.
  • Manage the full-cycle accounts payable process, from invoice receipt to payment.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure all invoices and monthly statements are obtained and resolve any queries professionally.
  • Ensure all invoices are properly authorised per levels of authority and obtain supplier bank confirmations.
  • Prepare monthly accruals and process inter-company invoices for related party transactions.
  • Capture and reconcile all transactions for company credit cards and petty cash.
Compliance and Administrative Support:
  • Proactively request, collect, and maintain valid B-BBEE certificates from suppliers.
  • Assist with general and administrative tasks, including filing and liaising with other departments to resolve queries.
  • Handle travel arrangements for staff, including booking flights, car hire, and accommodation.
  • Provide support to the procurement & logistics team with purchase order creation and accepting deliveries.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a creditors clerk, accounts payable, or similar accounts assistant role is essential.
  • A relevant certificate or diploma in bookkeeping or accounting is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite and the Microsoft Office Suite is required, with advanced skills in Excel being essential.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
