Job Description

Job Purpose:

To ensure sound credit risk management by accurately assessing and processing credit applications in line with internal policies and legal frameworks. The Vetting Clerk plays a critical role in safeguarding the company's financial health by evaluating creditworthiness, maintaining compliance with NCA, CPA, and POPIA regulations, and supporting the Credit Manager in implementing effective credit control procedures. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments to facilitate responsible customer onboarding and account management.

Job Objectives:

Review and process new and existing credit applications Assess creditworthiness using internal criteria and credit bureau reports Ensure compliance with NCA, CPA, and POPIA regulations Maintain and update the debtors database and credit application records Liaise with sales, legal, and finance teams for onboarding and approvals Flag high-risk applications and recommend credit limits Support the Credit Manager in setting credit policies and procedures Manage all Pre-legal and legal accounts

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

Relevant Diploma/Degree in Finance 3+ years in related field Computer literate - excel, word, outlook, SAP or relevant ERP system experience 2-3 years in credit vetting, risk assessment, or financial compliance Experience with credit bureaus (e.g., TransUnion, Experian) Strong attention to detail and documentation skills Strong administration and record-keeping skills are essential Knowledge of relevant legislation (NCA, CPA, POPIA) Experience in the automotive or retail sector will be advantageous
