:A financial services holding company with investments in debt capital and insurance-related businesses is seeking a Credit Analyst to take ownership of the credit function. This is a full-time position and the suitable candidate can be based in Cape Town or Johannesburg.This entrepreneurially driven environment offers a young, ambitious professional the opportunity to learn and grow while working closely across two key divisions focused on financial solutions and strategic lending. The role involves direct collaboration with executive leadership, providing valuable exposure to strategic decision-making and financial operations within a dynamic and fast-paced industryResponsibilities:Conduct credit assessments and motivations for corporate and medium sized clients seeking premium financing.Assess client creditworthiness and recommend appropriate deal structures and security requirements.Assist in structuring deals in line with credit risk appetite and funder mandatesLiaise with brokers and insurers regarding deal structuring, compliance, and risk queriesLiaise with clients regarding credit queries and due diligence.Perform early warning monitoring on premium finance facilities.Engage with the sales team to ensure timely and accurate credit submissions.Assist with recovery strategies when defaults are triggered on underlying loans.Conduct in-depth financial analysis to assess the creditworthiness of potential clients.Prepare detailed credit reports and recommendations for presentation by divisional head to the credit committee.Evaluate clients' ability to service potential loan facilities.Structure loan facilities in alignment with the credit framework to optimise security coverage and mitigate credit risk.Continuously review financial data to monitor existing clients ability to service their debt.Continuous review of facility security coverage to ensure debt coverage sufficiencyAssess client financial statements to ensure compliance with loan agreements and security commitments.Conduct portfolio monitoring and reviews (Ad-hoc, semi-annually and annual) on existing broker funding clientsIn the sell side and valuations business units, assist the executive head with calculations, diligence and document preparation.Ensure adherence to funder credit mandates and internal policies.Monitor covenant compliance, financial health, and portfolio trends in the broker funding book.Business as a whole:The effective management of the credit risk function to ensure that the credit risk of the business is managed within the parameters of the credit policy and board sentiment.Provide strategic insight and reporting of the credit risk to the board of directors, in order to facilitate effective business decision-making and reserving.Improving credit risk associated operations, data and reporting from an efficiency and effectiveness point of view.Regularly assess and refine credit-related systems, processes, frameworks, and reporting to enhance efficiency and risk management.Drive an AI strategy within the business to incorporate AI as a key component of our credit review process.Development Opportunity:The successful candidate will be exposed to senior management and involved in key credit decisionsMentorship with the aim of developing into the head of credit for the group over timeExposure to a variety and significant amount of credit transactions (Corporates, SMEs acquisition finance, broker funding, etc.)Requirements

  • Proven experience in a credit-related role within the financial services sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the credit function.
  • While this is not a client-facing role, occasional client interaction may be requiredxe2x80x94comfort in engaging with clients on an ad-hoc basis is essential.

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a corporate credit analyst at a bank or lending institution
  • BCom (or equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • Strong financial modelling and Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Drivers license and own transport
