Working as part of a dynamic finance team, the Credit Controller will be responsible for managing customer accounts efficiently, ensuring timely collections, accurate reconciliations and excellent communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
This role contributes directly to Exim's cash flow and overall financial health, supporting the company's continued growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage an assigned customer portfolio (split by sales representative), ensuring payments are received within agreed terms.
Monitor and manage "on hold" and "over credit limit" customers daily, following the Credit Control Policy and obtaining necessary approvals where required.
Maintain debtor days under 45 and overdue balances in 60 days under 1% of total debtors.
Report weekly to Management on account status and overdue debt analysis, flagging risks promptly.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and representatives to ensure smooth communication and timely resolution of queries.
Liaise with internal departments to resolve disputes or delays affecting payment.
Record all customer interactions, queries and collection efforts accurately in the Omni memo screen section.
Process daily cashbook receipts, ensuring month-end completion by the 1st of each month for statement distribution.
Handle cash and card payments when required.
Prepare and send monthly and weekly customer statements as per company timelines.
Manage new account applications, including credit vetting, M-Files submission and account setup within 48 hours of receipt.
Achieve departmental KPIs and uphold the company's Credit Control Policy.
Prepare for monthly debtors meetings by the second Thursday after month-end.
Maintain less than two bad debts per year through proactive follow-up and credit risk assessment.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 2 years' experience in all aspects of a very busy credit control function preferably in a FMCG Company.
Proficient in English (both written and spoken).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Confident, professional and assertive manner both telephonic and face to face.
Ability to work accurately under pressure.
Excellent attention to detail (accuracy levels).
Strong organisational and administration skills.
Can demonstrate ability to build strong relationships with customers, representatives and other stakeholders.
Honesty, trustworthiness and integrity.
Strong computer skills (preferably Microsoft packages and more specifically Excel and Outlook).
Self-motivated and little requirement for supervision.
Flexible and good team worker.
Conscientious.
