Future Careers is recruiting on behalf of a leading national retail group for an experienced and visionary Creative Lead to drive the brand's visual identity, storytelling, and creative execution across all marketing and promotional platforms.This dynamic role is based at the company's Head Office in Bellville, Cape Town and offers an exciting opportunity to shape and lead creative direction for one of South Africa's most recognizable retail brands.
Description
As the Creative Lead, you will own the creative vision and strategy for all marketing campaigns and strategic brand projects. You will lead a talented creative team - including designers, copywriters, digital specialists, and production artists - to deliver impactful campaigns that bring the brand's story to life across all touchpoints.
You'll collaborate closely with photographers, agencies, and key internal partners to ensure that every campaign aligns with brand guidelines, customer insights, and commercial objectives. From concept to execution, you'll ensure that creative output consistently reflects the brand's essence, tone, and market positioning
Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute creative strategies that support business and marketing objectives
• Oversee all creative outputs including design, digital content, photography, and campaign visuals
• Lead, inspire, and mentor a high-performing creative team
• Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, visual merchandising, and digital teams to ensure full 360 campaign delivery (ATL, BTL, digital, and in-store)
• Maintain the integrity of the brand identity and ensure creative alignment with corporate guidelines and brand positioning
• Manage external creative agencies and production partners to deliver on time, within budget, and to exceptional standards

Education Profile
Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, Marketing, Fine Arts, Communications, or a related field
• Postgraduate or Honours qualification advantageous
• 5-8 years' progressive creative experience, with at least 2-5 years in a leadership or Head of Creative role (retail, agency, or FMCG experience preferred)
• Proven track record of executing high-impact, commercially successful creative campaigns (portfolio required)
• Strong experience managing creative teams and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and familiarity with project management tools

• Strong understanding of digital design, social media, and emerging creative trends
• Excellent leadership, mentorship, and communication skills
• Ability to translate business strategy into compelling creative concepts
• Deep understanding of design, photography, video, typography, and visual storytelling
• Highly organized and deadline-driven, with excellent project management skills
• Collaborative mindset and ability to build trusted relationships across departments
• Commercially aware, with an understanding of creative budgeting and ROI tracking
