An award-winning and innovative Marketing, Activation and PR agency in Johannesburg's northern suburbs has an exciting opportunity for a versatile Copy-based Creative Director.

As Creative Director you will be responsible for leading the small creative department team, driving innovation, and delivering high-impact creative solutions for clients. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the agencyxe2x80x99s creative vision, managing a talented team of creative professionals, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure clientsxe2x80x99 objectives are met.

The agency specialises in BTL and TTL Marketing campaigns with an emphasis on cutting edge Activations that encompass VR and AI etc. The Creative Director will work on TTL campaigns and innovative Activations. As such, we're looking for a talented candidate with solid experience in these areas. You will also be involved in new business pitches/presentations and creative strategy.

Responsibilities

Client Presentations:

  • Lead and participate in client presentations, effectively communicating creative concepts and strategies.
  • Articulate the rationale behind creative decisions and strategies to clients.
  • Creating pitch decks/ presentations from inception and delegating to the team to create and initiate accordingly with accurate client scope of works.
  • Ability to work within the team and complete all work from Inception to completion, both on the ground (operational work) and executive level. (Creative, strategic operational aspect to executional management with your close intimate team)
Creative Leadership:
  • Develop and articulate the agencyxe2x80x99s creative vision, ensuring alignment with client needs and market trends.
  • Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of creative professionals, including art directors, copywriters, designers, and multimedia specialists.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence within the creative department.
Client Collaboration:
  • Work closely with clients to understand their objectives, challenges, and creative requirements.
  • Provide strategic creative input, present ideas, and manage client expectations throughout projects.
  • Ensure client satisfaction by delivering innovative and effective creative solutions that meet or exceed their goals.
Creative Strategy:
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of creative strategies.
  • Collaborate with other agency departments, such as account management and strategy, to ensure creative efforts are in sync with overall campaign objectives.
Project Management:
  • Manage the workflow, timelines, and budgets for creative projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Supervise the allocation of creative resources and provide direction to creative teams for successful project execution.
Concept Development:
  • Generate and refine creative concepts, campaigns, and visual identities that resonate with target audiences and achieve client goals.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to inform creative strategies.
Quality Control:
  • Maintain high standards of quality and consistency across all creative work produced by the agency.
  • Conduct regular reviews and critiques to provide constructive feedback to the creative team.
Resource Management:
  • Oversee hiring, training, and development of creative talent within the agency.
  • Manage relationships with freelance or external creative partners as needed.
Budget Oversight:
  • Collaborate with the finance department to manage the creative budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions and resource allocation.
Measuring and Reporting:
  • Establish KPIs and metrics to measure the success of creative campaigns and initiatives.
  • Regularly report on the performance and impact of creative work to clients and agency leadership.
Requirements

The successful candidate must have/be:
  • Bachelorxe2x80x99s Degree in a related field (e.g., Advertising, Design, Communications).
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in a creative leadership role within a similar agency.
  • A portfolio showcasing a diverse range of creative campaigns and projects.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard creative software and tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a creative team.
