Job Description
Position: Cosmetics Formulatory Technician
Location: Parow, Western Cape
Minimum Qualifying Criteria:
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
- Experience: 510 years of hands-on experience in formulating personal care products (hair care, skin care, body care).
- Industry Exposure: Strong background in ISO/GMP-compliant environments. Experience with private label or contract manufacturing is highly desirable.
Formulation Expertise
- Skilled in developing emulsions, gels, serums, lotions, sprays, and shampoos.
- Deep understanding of ingredient interaction and compatibility.
- Experience with natural/synthetic actives, preservatives, and emulsifiers.
- Supports scale-up and ensures batch reproducibility.
- Designs and interprets accelerated stability and packaging compatibility studies.
- Troubleshoots formulation stability and performance issues.
- Collaborates with production to scale lab formulas to manufacturing.
- Develops and reviews MBRs and SOPs.
- Familiar with INCI, SAHPRA, EU Cosmetic Regulations, and FDA standards.
- Experience preparing PIFs and SDS documentation.
- Oversees lab assistants, maintains equipment, inventory, and lab hygiene
