Job Description


Duties/Pligte
The main purpose of this position is to manage and administer bursary funding in accordance with relevant institutional policies and bursar guidelines in an effective and efficient manner.



  • Handling of enquiries and advice to current and prospective postgraduate students and other stakeholders by means of consultations;

  • Responsible for correspondence, including email;

  • Financial management and general administration of bursary funds, including the nomination of suitable candidates, the allocation of funding, as well as the relevant post-award processes;

  • Internal and external liaising with stakeholders concerning bursary funds;

  • Interpreting and identifying company/donor specific needs and how this can be accommodated within the existing procedure and policy framework of the University;

  • Reconciliation of bursary allocations;

  • Compiling reports to SU management and donors;

  • Responsible for presentations to students and other stakeholders;

  • Assisting with internal controls and feedback to auditors;

  • Determining and providing input concerning systems requirements;

  • Performing a vast number of general administrative tasks related to the preceding duties;

  • Performing ad hoc tasks as operationally required and requested by the line management of the PGO and DRD.




Die hoofdoel van hierdie pos is om beursfondse te bestuur en te administreer ooreenkomstig met die beleide rakende finansixc3xable bystand.


  • Hantering van navrae en voorligting aan huidige en voornemende nagraadse studente en ander belanghebbendes deur middel van konsultasies;

  • Hantering van korrespondensie, insluitend epos;

  • Finansixc3xable bestuur en algemene administrasie van beursfondse, met inbegrip van die nominasie van geskikte kandidate, toekenning, en na-toekenningsprosesse;

  • Interne en eksterne skakeling met belangehebbende partye met betrekking tot beursfondse;

  • Vertolking en bepaling van maatskappy/donateur-spesifieke behoeftes, en hoe die Universiteit binne die bestaande prosedure en beleidsraamwerk daarin kan voorsien;

  • Rekonsiliasie van beurstoekennings;

  • Stel verslae aan die US se bestuur en skenkers op;

  • Verantwoordelik vir voorligtingsaanbiedinge aan studente en ander belanghebbendes;

  • Hulpverlening met interne kontroles en terugvoer aan ouditeure;

  • Bepaal en lewer insette met betrekking tot stelselbehoeftes;

  • Uitvoering van `n groot verskeidenheid algemene administratiewe take wat met die voorafgaande pligte verband hou;

  • Verrigting van ad hoc-take soos operasioneel vereis vanaf die NGK en ANO se lynbestuur.


Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

  • Appropriate bachelor's degree, or an equivalent three-year post-school qualification;

  • At least two years' experience in a relevant environment;

  • A high level of computer literacy;

  • Financial management skills and experience in systems and data management;

  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills.




  • Toepaslike baccalaureusgraad, of 'n gelykwaardige drie-jaar naskoolse kwalifikasie;

  • Minstens twee jaar se ervaring in 'n toepaslike omgewing;

  • 'n Hoxc3xab vlak van rekenaargeletterdheid;

  • Finansixc3xablebestuursvaardighede en ervaring van stelsel- en databestuur;

  • Goeie kommunikasie- en interpersoonlikevaardighede.


Recommendation/Aanbeveling

  • Postgraduate qualification;

  • Project management experience;

  • Experience in a financial aid office;

  • Knowledge of student administration.




  • Nagraadse kwalifikasie;

  • Projekbestuurservaring;

  • Ervaring in 'n beurskantoor;

  • Kennis van studente-administrasie.
