The UWC International Relations office is responsible for promoting and supporting the establishment of scholarly international relations for the university. IRO provides a liaison and facilitation service for advancing strategic partnerships for the university. Part of the UWC International Relations office's focus is on promoting capacity-building opportunities through international mobility for staff and students. The IRO can be consulted on establishing international partnerships and connecting with networks and mobility opportunities for staff and students.


The IRO has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual who will be reporting to the Director: International Relations. The Coordinator: International Relations supports the efforts of UWC's Internationalisation Project by providing integrated coordination and administration related to the Internationalisation Project.


The key performance areas of the incumbent include the following:




External/internal liaison in line with providing an excellent client service. Work with the Director to develop a comprehensive portfolio of international capacity development programmes and Work packages in line with UWC's strategic direction and needs. Coordinate and facilitate student exchange and study abroad programmes. Coordinate Internationalisation at Home and Internationalisation of the Curriculum activities. Liaison of the partnerships across networks. Support the Directorate, in taking responsibility for the coordination of international projects and staff and student exchange Coordination of International Relation's office administration inclusive of Project Administration. Arrange activities in support of the programme & project objectives. Ensure that financial obligations are adhered to for project and exchange student coordination. Report generation. Collating information and providing feedback as required.

A relevant Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification at an NQF Level 7 5 years' relevant experience working within the Higher Education sector 3 years of the 5 years should be of the International and African Higher Education sector





Added advantage:




Demonstrated ability to communicate in a sub Saharan African language in addition to the South African languages.

Ability to work independently and ability to use his/her own initiative to resolve problems and to be pro-active to get things done. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a team and work under pressure. Excellent attention to detail and deadlines. Understanding of protocols when dealing with high-level international guests. Financial coordination and project management skills. Ability to deal with conflict. Working knowledge of MS WORD, MS EXCEL and MS PowerPoint.
