Job description:

Our store is looking for a Cook to join its Deli department, our Deli department is well known for its sumptuous Indian curries and Traditional meals as it serves a community vibrant in ethnicity. As a cook you must be able to follow instructions in cooking by following recipes and delivering well-prepared meals

Responsibilities

Cooking and preparing an array of cuisine

Stock Control; ensure that stock and ingredients are in optimal levels

Perform stock takes; check for understocks or overstocks

Recipe Control; ensure that recipes are followed meticulously

Costings: perform costings on existing dishes and new

Maintains the highest professional food quality and sanitation standard

Ensures that health and safety standards are followed

Performs the "clean as you go" function

Menu creation and implementation

Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)

Cook food in various utensils or grillers Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served on the counter Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen Ensure all food and other items are stored properly Check quality of ingredients

Requirements and skills

Proven experience as cook Experience in performing costings of dishes Experience in using kitchen equipment Ability to follow all health and safety procedures Ability to work in a team Excellent communication skills Grade 12
Works a variety of shifts and weekends as required

Candidates in possession of a qualification in Culinary would be advantageous*
