Job Description


Summary The Construction Lead is responsible for the preparation of site refurbishment activities related to the WFGD plant on the refurbishment projects as defined the Scope of Work (SOW), coordination of site and interface with partners (internal and external) and customer. He/She is responsible for the technical safety, Quality of work carried out on systems within his/her scope of work.



Roles and Responsibilities

The refurbishment scope of work planning and execution strategy is in place.

Responsible for the management, supervision and coordination of the site refurbishment works.

The interface with other external contractors or partners is managed.

Implementation of a tracking/ management system for all refurbishment works is including Engineering related changes.

The schedule, milestones / key dates, resources, and budget at the forefront of the overall refurbishment scope are managed.

An efficient system for refurbishment completion, closeout, punch listing and handover of systems to commissioning is developed.

Leading daily and weekly meetings with Site refurbishment team.

Develop and implement an efficient schedule and plans for refurbishment activities.

Develop mitigation plans to minimize impacts: NCR, Punch Items.

Ensure and maintain good communication with subcontractors, customer and project stakeholders

Maintain high EHS standards during refurbishment activities and managing the work execution to ensure quality compliance.

Authority

  • Interrupt any activity in case of unsafe situation or behaviour (GE STOPWORK)
  • Interrupt any activity whenever such action is necessary to meet quality requirements (STOPWORK)
  • Right to issue directives to the refurbishment construction personnel reporting to him/her in regard to technical matters.
Required Qualifications
  • University degree or technical qualification in engineering related field
  • +10Years Experience on Thermal Power Plants,
  • Valid registration with the South African Council for the Construction and Management Professions (SACPCMP)
  • Experience on the WFGD plants
  • Experience on Mechanical equipment and systems
  • Knowledge of the Quality management systems
  • Knowledge of the ASME / EN standards is preferable.
  • Be able to read and interpret Mechanical drawings (P&IDs, Maintenance Manuals)
  • Experience in the use of the Maintenance Tools
  • Management experience
  • Good general computer skills (PC, Windows, Office)
  • English
