• You bring broad knowledge in Instrumentation & Controls, focusing on complex design, development, and implementation of emerging technologies. The role includes conducting research, advising on technologies, and analyzing and supporting technical DCS Architecture projects.
• You will handle complex product configuration, do trainings, rollout, and implementation support.
• You will also solve complex problems related to process and technology. This role provides technical leadership and mentors engineering staff.
• Your scope of tasks will include planning activities, preparing reports and documentation, analyzing system behavior, executing handovers to customer personnel, occasionally contributing as a test engineer and potentially supervising tasks on-site.
• Your project-specific responsibilities include working in a team or leading it during proposal, engineering, and commissioning phases. You will be the interface with clients or other OEM experts, interpret input data, engineer project-specific deliverables, report on status, and document requirements.
• During commissioning you will put specific parts of the deliverables into service, ideally working with different PLC types, including SIMATIC S7 PLCs. You will also write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, and ensure ongoing education and development of both self and others through knowledge transfer.
• The role requires short-notice travel to support plants, potentially up to 60% travel within South Africa and the Continent.

What You Bring

• Minimum BEng/BSc degree in Computer, Electronic, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering

• Minimum 10 years' experience with Pr.Eng -OR- 12 years and in the process of applying for Pr.Eng in the short term.

• You are experienced in project leadership roles.

• You are an Engineer who has a strong IIT/OT background in DCS (Distributed Control System) systems architecture, commissioning and administration thereof.

• You have been involved in several projects in areas ideally including engineering design, commissioning, and documentation; Energy Sector exposure advantageous.

• You are an expert in a DCS system, e.g., the main products in SPPA-T3000 as well as related products like Plant Information Systems, Cyber Security, Network set up

• You have a sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the instrumentation and controls engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields

• You are experienced in / are exposed to topics involving Functional Safety and Process Optimisation.

• You have the ability to build effective working relationships (customer and colleague), persuade and influence, and problem-solve complex issues.
