Control Room Operator. Reporting to the Security Manager, the

Grade B

Control Room Operator will be responsible for monitoring the security operations and CCTV system for the client. Implement security regulations and rules to ensure a safe environment for employees and visitors of the client.

Duties & Responsibilities

Monitoring & Surveillance

+ Operate and monitor CCTV cameras, access control systems, alarms, and other security technology.
+ Conduct proactive surveillance to identify suspicious or abnormal activity.
+ Maintain constant situational awareness of all estate perimeters, entrances, and high-risk areas.

Access & Incident Management

+ Authorize, log, and control entry/exit of residents, contractors, service providers, and visitors.
+ Respond promptly to security breaches, alarms, and emergency calls, coordinating on-site security teams where necessary.
+ Escalate serious incidents to the Estate Security Manager or relevant emergency services.

Communication & Coordination

+ Serve as the communication hub for all estate security operations.
+ Provide clear, professional instructions to patrolling officers and gate personnel.
+ Maintain radio discipline and ensure seamless information flow between teams.

Reporting & Administration

+ Accurately record incidents, observations, and responses in the control room occurrence book and electronic systems.
+ Prepare shift handover reports, ensuring continuity of operations.
+ Support investigations with video footage retrieval, access logs, and incident records.

Resident Service

+ Respond professionally to residents' security-related inquiries.
+ Ensure a service-driven approach that reflects the estate's commitment to luxury living and resident satisfaction.

Skills and Competencies

South African security legislation. Security Operational Processes. Health and Safety legislation. Working knowledge of MS Office. Ability to communicate at all levels in the organisation. Attention to detail Strong sense of urgency Time management Computer literate (MS Excel, Word, Outlook)

Qualifications

Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent. Valid PSIRA registration (minimum Grade B). Proven experience as a Control Room Operator in a residential estate or in general Strong knowledge of CCTV operations, alarm monitoring, and access control systems. Excellent communication skills (fluent in English; additional languages an advantage). Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under pressure. High level of integrity, discretion, and customer service orientation. * Computer literacy (MS Office, control room software).
