Purpose of the job

The purpose of this job is to maintain control systems throughout the plant to ensure optimal plant availability. This includes but is not limited to PLCs, SCADAs networks and assisting instrumentation technicians and other technical staff with fault finding.it is also required to initiate,motivate and executive in-house projects as required to improve processes, the level of automation and maintain Plant availability(Replacement Strategy)

Qualifications

• BSc Instrumentation /Electronic Engineering/BTech Electronic Engineering
• Post Graduate Management Qualification

Skills

• Computer Literacy

Experience

• 5 years experience in a Mining/Chemical Plant environment at a middle management level
• General Knowledge of a production plant will be advantageous to the applicant

Headline key result areas:

• Administering software changes by keeping record of changes and changing the code as required for the changes.
• A lot of time is spent on assisting technicians with fault finding, sometimes this involves other disciples. such as electricians.
• In the absence of the Maintenance Superintendent, it might be required of the incumbent to act in this position. To be eligible to act in this position, it will be required of the incumbent to have successfully completed the legal examination for 2.6.1 appointment in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act.
• Smaller Projects are handled in-house. The incumbent will compile required documentation and do all the Programming for both the PLC and the SCADA. He / She will also coordinate the commissioning of the project with Technicians and other disciples.
• Have appositive attitude towards the Companys Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Policy.
• Be able to provide training and assistance to less experienced colleagues. He /She must also stay abreast with the latest technology in his field.
• Have full responsibility for maintenance and projects budgets and to ensure that the cost stays within the approved budget.
• Perform standby duties as required (Monthly).
