Job Description


Control, Automation & Instrumentation Technician Person is required to undertake small projects of technical complexity from conception to completion. Person is required to assist in technical support to other business units on all aspects of automation. Good and constructive interaction with customer at all times to and in the upholding of PPExe2x80x99s good image. Tendering and quoting on possible work and customer visits and interaction to understand requirements and find good engineered solutions. Mentor junior staff in technical solutions. Outline of Job Responsibilities

  • Small Project Development from concept to completion.
  • Electrical and Instrumentation Designs for projects, namely drawings, diagrams and all related documentation.
  • Implement and practise good quality control in terms of PPE Technologies ISO standards
  • Document control both administrative and project related.
  • Able to do self research on technical issues and new technologies.
  • Technical assistants to younger engineers and technicians.
  • Quotations and tenders, and fulfill a support function to Contracts pursuit, Business Development and sales.
  • Self Management of projects on technical and commercial aspects.
  • Interact with customers on behalf of PPE in professional manner.
  • Able to conceive good practical and technical solutions to customers.
  • Ablility to solve technicial issues and fault find through problems.
  • Onsite commissioning of systems.
  • Required to travel.
  • Willing to work overtime if required.
  • Dedication to project deadlines and self-management of tasks and functions.
  • Undertake site supervision, on any size projects.
  • Display professionalism and always hold PPE in good stead with customers or in general public.
  • Implementation and understanding of automation, drives and instrumentation.
  • Comply with all PPE Technologies policies and procedures.
System experience, background and requirements:
  • Gain and implement knowledge on ABB products focused on Drives, Instrumentation and Automation so as to technically support departments and customers in design, development and implementation.
  • Gain knowledge and competency in the fields of instrumentation and drives in fault finding, implementation, design and commissioning.
  • Gain Electrical Hardware and software design, development, implementation and commissioning. Must manage own projects or at least in part managed own projects and done development of system from start. Must be able to demonstrate good development cycle knowledge, practises and implementation.
  • Travel will be required, within Africa and other countries, thus valid passport and such documentation will be required or must be obtained.

Candidate requirements:
  • Electrical Engineering Diploma or S4 in Process, Instrumentation, Digital Systems or equivalent.
  • Work experience minimum 3 to 5 years, within a Projects environment preferable.
