Stefanutti Stocks Western Cape is seeking enthusiastic and specialized HV Project/Contracts Managers to join our team. This is a key role for experienced professionals ready to procure and manage HV construction projects from inception to successful, safe, and profitable completion--on time and to the highest standards of safety and quality.




About the Role





As a HV Projects/Contracts Manager, you will lead the overall procurement and delivery of one or more HV or multi-disciplinary construction project. You will be responsible for construction management, contract and cost control, SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality), client liaison, and staff development.



You will work closely with project teams to provide technical and financial input, ensure legal compliance, manage risk, and maintain stakeholder satisfaction.

when required for project needs.




Core Responsibilities




Project Procurement & Execution




Oversee the full lifecycle of high voltage electrical projects (typically 11kV-132kV), from procurement to completion. Develop and implement project procurement and execution strategies and plans, construction methodologies, and installation schedules.

Contract & Commercial Management




Administrate and manage the appointments of designers, suppliers and specialist contractors. Administer construction contracts (e.g., NEC, FIDIC, JBCC), manage change orders, variations, and claims. Monitor and report on project budgets, track cost-to-completion, manage cash flow forecasts and cost reports.

Technical Oversight




Provide technical leadership for HV designs and installations, including substations, transformers, switchgear, cabling, protection systems, and SCADA interfaces. Ensure compliance with technical specifications, SANS standards, and utility requirements (e.g., Eskom, municipalities).

Stakeholder Coordination




Act as primary interface with clients, consultants, utility providers, and internal teams. Lead coordination meetings, ensure alignment with project milestones, and manage expectations.

Team & Subcontractor Management




Manage the design process when applicable, on-site construction teams, subcontractors, and specialist suppliers. Review subcontractor scopes, performance, and quality of work.

Quality, Safety & Compliance




Enforce safety protocols in line with the OHS Act and HV-specific regulations (e.g., ORHVS compliance). Ensure all work is performed to quality standards and that inspections and sign-offs are properly documented.

Commissioning & Handover




Coordinate testing and commissioning of HV systems. Ensure proper documentation, as-built records, and handover to clients or operations teams.

Risk Management




Identify and manage technical and contractual risks, implementing mitigation strategies early.

Technical Experience
+ 8 - 15 years in the electrical industry, with at least 5-8 years focused on medium and high voltage installations (typically 11kV - 132kV and up).

+ End-to-end project delivery experience including tendering, planning, execution, commercial management, and closeout.

+ Strong background in HV substation and reticulation works, overhead and underground HV cabling, switchgear installations, protection schemes, and interfacing with utilities (e.g., Eskom, City Power).

+ Experience in utility-scale infrastructure projects, data centers.

+ Site and contract management under FIDIC, NEC, or JBCC contract frameworks.
Project and Commercial Management
+ Oversight of multi-disciplinary teams, subcontractor management, and procurement coordination.

+ Familiarity with project cost control, progress reporting, and change management.

+ Ability to interface with clients, consultants, and statutory authorities.
Qualifications and Certifications
+ NDip/BTech/BEng in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current preferred)

+ Trade-tested electrician (optional but advantageous if they've worked their way up)

+ Registered or eligible for registration with ECSA as a Pr Tech Eng or Pr Eng

+ Project management certification (PMP, Prince2, or equivalent) is an advantage

+ Must understand and comply with the OHS Act, SANS10142, and relevant HV regulations
Additional Skills
+ Strong leadership and communication skills

+ Ability to lead both office-based planning and site-based execution

+ Proficient in MS Project, Excel, and electrical design software (optional but beneficial). High IT proficiency and orientation toward digital tools

+ Innovative, solution-driven, and collaborative team player
