Job Description

Stefanutti Stocks Inland is looking for enthusiastic and specialized Contracts Managers to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of a construction project/s ensuring profitable, safety, on time and on quality completion thereof. In addition, the position provide technical input and design solutions to Site Agents/Engineers. Applicants should have appropriate experience, across a range of projects, with a medium to large construction company.





Candidates should be able to decide and initiate action and be highly motivated, with the ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Construction management


Undertake the implementation of company procedures and project objectives on a specific site Establish the project Construction programme, information and Long-lead schedules Brief professionals, sub-contractors and site staff on the programme and distribute briefing in writing to all relevant parties Monitor, measure and mark-up progress in programmes biweekly and timeously implement corrective action where progress does not meet expectations and targets. Establish and manage the Project Quality plan in accordance with project and policy requirements and ensure appropriate implementation thereof and compliance thereto Receive, study and oversee the distribution of all information on a project Establish, monitor and implement company policy and procedural requirements for recordkeeping, maintenance and monitoring of Site records Hold regular minuted meetings with sub-contractors and site staff reporting on various items Prepare and display productivity and progress charts in the office to assist and ensure daily monitoring

Cost and contractual management




Establish, monitor and implement company policy and procedural requirements for Site costing Assist Quantity Surveyor in establishing a cost plan for the project Ensure that all relevant labour, materials, plant and sub-contractors are procured in good time for the contract and within budget specifications Timeously approve cost reports and present to Contracts Director on a monthly basis Assist the Quantity Surveyor in obtaining the client's approval on new rates and extras Initiate contractual claim notifications and assist in compiling claims within the prescribed timeframe Initial all legal and contractual requirements, including Completion Certificates

SHEQ management


Set up relevant safety forum, schedule and chair safety meetings Establish and manage the project's Health and Safety plan in accordance with the latest construction regulations as well as company policy and procedural provisions Oversee the implementation of the Health and Safety plan and safety compliance and take corrective action as necessary to correct non- conformance

Client Liaison and relationship management


Manage, develop and maintain effective relationships with clients and professional teams ensuring appropriate levels of satisfaction is maintained to enhance likelihood of future opportunities Attend Site Design, planning and progress meetings with the professional team Liaise with local authorities and ensure that the site complies with all by-laws In conjunction with the relevant HR Manager liaise with Union representatives and attend to Union matters Build and promote the company, its values and its brand

Staff management and planning


Guide, lead, and direct subordinate staff so that they are able to achieve the objectives set for them as well as understand and align with the strategic direction and goals of the parent company Monitor and manage performance of subordinate staff in compliance with the Performance Management policy and processes Coach, mentor and develop staff as appropriate to improve performance Practise sound labour (IR) relations within the approved legislation and conditions of service with regard to staff Ensure consistent implementation and compliance of subordinate staff and staff on site to Stefanutti Stocks policies, procedures and practices Maintain a critical mass of staff ensuring effective staff retention Establish a positive work context for subordinate staff


Minimum Requirements:


BSc or Btech in civil engineering or construction management Must be professionally registered with SACPCMP Candidates will be required to work outside of Western Cape, but home base will ideally be in Cape Town At least ten years relevant experience in respect of managing construction projects with emphasis being placed on construction and contract management; financial management, risk management, commercial and legal management; operational planning and implementation and staff management
