Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) has an exciting opportunity in our department. We are looking for a talented individual with relevant skills and experience for an Continuous Improvement Specialist role, which is based in Wadeville.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Key Outcomes
CI Strategy Implementation

  • Drive the implementation of plant-level CI programs in line with corporate CI frameworks.
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Manager and Head Office CI Coach to tailor initiatives to plant needs.
  • Align improvement activities to key business priorities and performance gaps.
Loss and Opportunity Analysis
  • Conduct loss and waste analysis using OEE, line efficiency, and downtime data.
  • Use tools such as value stream mapping, spaghetti diagrams, and process mapping to identify bottlenecks and improvement areas.
  • Track benefits and validate savings from CI projects.
Project Facilitation and Execution
  • Lead and support CI projects (Kaizens, SMED, 5S, TPM, etc.) across production lines and support functions.
  • Facilitate structured problem-solving sessions (e.g., A3s, RCA) with cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure timely closure of CI actions and validation of improvements.
Performance Management and Visual Controls
  • Support the implementation and optimization of tiered daily performance management systems.
  • Drive use of visual controls and KPIs to monitor and sustain performance improvements.
  • Guide teams in identifying trends, gaps, and action plans from plant metrics.
Training and Capability Building
  • Coach frontline leaders and teams in CI tools and techniques.
  • Conduct training sessions or workshops in collaboration with Head Office CI Coach.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and proactive problem-solving.
Governance and Reporting
  • Ensure all CI activities are documented, tracked, and reported in line with corporate standards.
  • Provide input into monthly CI reviews and plant performance discussions.
  • Maintain alignment with group-wide CI methodology, maturity models, and audit requirements.
Functional Capabilities
  • Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Manufacturing performance analysis and improvement
  • Loss analysis and waste elimination
  • Facilitation of root cause problem-solving (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone, A3)
  • Standardization and process documentation
  • Performance management system support (e.g., Tier meetings, Visual Management)
  • Change management and stakeholder engagement
  • Capability building and coaching frontline teams
KBI
  • Improvement in OEE and productivity metrics%
  • Reduction in waste and losses (e.g., material yield, downtime)
  • % of projects delivered on time and sustained
  • Number of employees trained in CI tools and techniques
  • % of RCA closure rate and impact of implemented solutions
  • Improvement in Tier meeting effectiveness scores
  • Employee engagement in CI activities (suggestions, Kaizens, etc.)
Skills, Experience & Education
Education
  • Minimum: National Diploma in Industrial Engineering, or related technical field
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or similar
  • Certification: Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt preferred
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably FMCG or beverages
  • Proven track record of leading successful CI initiatives
  • Experience in coaching and facilitating cross-functional teams
Skills
  • Proficient in lean tools: 5S, SMED, Kanban, TPM, Kaizen, VSM
  • Root cause problem-solving techniques: A3, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram
  • Familiarity with performance metrics: OEE, downtime, line efficiency
  • Ability to facilitate workshops and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Competence in MS Office, Excel (incl. charts & analysis), PowerPoint
  • Data analysis and interpretation for decision-making
  • Basic project management and reporting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
