Specialist: African Languages

(Fixed term contract position)

Oxford University Press is looking for a Content Specialist: African Languages (specialising in Sotho Languages) that can contribute to and implement the publisherxe2x80x99s concept and brief through research, manuscript development and project management to meet the objectives of OUPSA. The Content Specialist: African Languages should have experience developing content in a Sotho Language to complement the Sotho language skills of the Sotho Languages Publisher.

The Content Specialist will be reporting to the Publishing Manager: Schools Languages. This post is based in Cape Town.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Conduct market research into new market areas in collaboration with the publisher
  • Commission projects according to publisherxe2x80x99s brief
  • Manage the development of the content of all assigned projects including schools, literature and digital products as required through production to final product
  • Collaborate across all teams within publishing and other internal stakeholders which includes Sales, Marketing, Digital product team and Editorial Services
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage costs against approved budget
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree level qualification
  • Relevant working experience in publishing
  • Teaching or lecturing experience advantageous
  • Can demonstrate delivering high-quality successful products on time
  • Experience of project management in a productive context
  • Ability to think and act quickly, negotiate challenges and troubleshoot solutions often under pressure
  • Can demonstrate a track record of excellent communication skills leading to effective collaboration with other teams
