Job Description

Our client an established environmental company based in Cape Town which has been in operation for over 20 years in urgent need of a Contaminated Land Specialist / Operations Manager for their Cape Town office. This company offers a wide and integrated range of environmental services with a focus on dynamic, practical and implementable solutions. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 - 8 years' experience within a similar role.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Managing of fieldwork and reporting in the contaminated land field

Managing of two teams of experienced technicians to ensure that they carry out the fieldwork and sampling of soil and groundwater correctly

The coordination of these teams and medium to long term work planning

Interpretation of the results and the creation of report recommendations is a further responsibility

Management and quality control of our experienced underground scanning teams as required

Liaison and regular communication with clients are required and the development of new business is important

Coordination of safety files etc. to clients' requirements is also key

Fieldwork and site visits as required both local, regional, national, and possibly internationally.

Operation of the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT equipment.

HSE and associated documentation compilation and assistance as required

Recovery of soil and water samples using defined protocols and the preparation and submission of these to the laboratory

Environmental monitoring of water, effluent, and soil

Desired Experience & Qualification:

A tertiary qualification in a suitable natural science or similar field

Professionally registered as a Pr.Sci.Nat or similar will be highly adv.

5 - 8 Years proven experience in both fieldwork and report writing in the contaminated land field and with experience in hydrocarbon contamination and risk assessment

Should you prove yourself there will be an ownership on offer with a % of the company in the medium term.

Analysis and interpretation abilities

Experience in compiling safety files and associated documentation is key
