Construction SHEQ Manager - Johannesburg - Market related Salary

A leading organisation in the construction and infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced Construction SHEQ Manager to join its national operations team.
Role Purpose:
Reporting to the National SHEQ Manager, this role is dedicated to strengthening SHEQ leadership within the construction division. You will take full responsibility for SHEQ implementation and compliance within this business unit, enabling strategic focus and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all SHEQ activities for the construction division nationally, in line with client and internal standards.
Ensure full legal compliance with OHSA and MHSA frameworks.
Oversee and maintain safety files and contractor packs for all allocated projects.
Coordinate and support Safety Officers within the division.
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and compliance checks.
Drive incident investigations, root cause analysis, and ensure effective closeouts.
Represent the organisation during external audits and inspections.
Prepare and deliver monthly and adhoc SHEQ reports.
Promote a proactive safety culture and lead SHEQ planning for tenders and new projects.
Monitor contractor compliance and track closeouts of nonconformances and audit findings.
Contribute SHEQ insights for executive dashboards, including leading indicators and risk trends.
Facilitate crosssite learning and best practice sharing.
Required Experience & Competencies
Minimum 8 years experience as a Safety Manager (or similar) within a multisite construction environment.
Proven experience in MHSA and OHSA legislative frameworks.
Exposure to mining, petrochemical, power generation, or water treatment sectors is advantageous.
Excellent communication, leadership, and administrative skills.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform under pressure.
Qualifications & Registrations
BTech / Advanced Diploma in Safety Management (NQF 7) Essential.
SACPCMP registration at CHSM level Essential.
COMSOC 1 & 2 Essential.
Valid drivers license and own transport (willing to travel extensively).
Proven ability to manage HSEC, Passport 360, and paperbased systems.
