Cementation Africa invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Construction Man (With Trade/B Cert) to be placed in Tharisa Mine Project. The successful candidate will report to the Mine Overseer. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.
Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

• Effective and efficient supervision of the mining construction crew to achieve production targets
• Plan, schedule and control activities to ensure availability of resources, materials and equipment
• Effective management of materials, consumables and explosives
• Participate in waiting place / pre-shift meetings and ensure parameters relating to quality, quantity, cost and safety are understood
• Team and self-understand and comply with Cementation Africa policies, procedures, standards
• Proactive risk identification and mitigation in compliance with DMR, Cementation Africa and Client's safety requirements
• Effective self and team management and alignment with Cementation Africa values and leadership initiatives
• Safe installations and construction of pump stations, dam walls, piping and valves
• Supervise underground rigging installation and hooking points
• Comply with the lock out systems required on machinery and equipment
• Adhere to Cementation Africa policies, procedures, standards and safety protocols

Minimum requirements
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
• Blasting / Boilermaker / Rigger / Fitter Trade Certificate [advantageous]
• Licence to Supervise or equivalent supervisory qualification
• Operating license for underground equipment
• If not a Rigger by trade, require Basic Rigging certificate
• Good English verbal and written communication skills

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

• At least 4 years of experience in underground mining and construction work / in relevant trade heavy steel erection, underground construction, re-enforcing and form work]
• Rigging experience essential
• Experience transporting and operating machinery in an underground mining environment
• Experience supervising a team
