Conservation Impact Coordinator

The Herding for Health program (H4H) -- a partnership between CI and The Peace Parks Foundation -- is a community-driven livestock management model that supports the livelihoods of rural communities living in and around protected areas, while restoring grasslands, savannas and shrublands, and conserving biodiversity through herding, capacity building, and collective governance.
CSA partners with communities and communal livestock farmers to tackle the adverse effects of climate change, through nature-based solutions and through our H4H concept which promotes stewardship of biodiverse communal rangelands through Conservation Agreements
POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Springbok, South Africa
The Conservation Impact Coordinator for the Namakwa Landscape will report to the Senior Coordinator Restoration and Impact. This position will assist in tracking and reporting on landscape-level impact indicators, as well as project-specific metrics, ensuring accurate data collection and the production of quarterly impact reports.
Working closely with project teams, the Conservation Impact Coordinator will support the collection of key indicators, including assisting with annual vegetation assessments and freshwater monitoring of rivers and wetlands.
Additionally, the Conservation Impact Coordinator will, on a quarterly basis, contribute to a non-technical impact report to be shared with stakeholders in the landscape, highlighting the outcomes and contributions of CSA's projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate, develop, and implement M&E frameworks.

• Assist the Senior Coordinator and landscape Implementation teams to refine existing M&E frameworks of both CSA and project-specific indicators.
• Assist with qualitative and quantitative analysis of M&E data and findings by following research methodology and good practice, developing findings and insights.
• Assist with updating landscape data in different databases.
• Capture spatial data.
• Provide training on data capturing to staff based on M&E framework requirements.

Rangeland

• Capture community grazing on paper maps.
• Keep a database of working status of waterpoints.
• Quarterly vegetation data monitoring through quick assessments.
• Assisting with annual vegetation assessments.

Freshwater monitoring

• Assist with freshwater monitoring on an annual basis, by making use of miniSASS.
• Monitor wetland health.

Jobs for nature

• Perform regular site visits to field teams.
• Assist in providing guidance on field activities relating to project targets.
• Attend HR matters and ensure the report line is followed based on policy and procedure.

Presentation

• Present various landscape training materials to beneficiaries.
• Impact feedback sessions to communities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• A combination of office and field work.
• Regular gravel road driving to get to communities.
• Regular office hours with occasional overtime required.
• Able to travel for project work, workshops, and training sessions.
• Visit to other Landscapes, nationally and internationally, as required.
• This role will be a two-year fixed-term assignment, anticipated to begin in October 2025 and end in August 2028

QUALIFICATIONS
Required

• 2 to 4 years of experience working on environmental, conservation, or community projects.
• Experience in data management and visualization, and short reporting.
• Microsoft Office:

• Microsoft Excel - graphs
• Outlook
• Word
• Minimum code B driver's license.

Preferred

• A Diploma in Agriculture and/or an environmental-related field and/or a conservation-related field.
• Experience in report writing.
• Knowledge of succulent vegetation.
• Able to perform field assessments based on best practice and scientific principles.
