Concrete Lab Assistant - Port ElizabethFull job descriptionJob Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Concrete Lab Assistant to support our laboratory operations in testing and analysing concrete materials. The ideal candidate will assist in sample preparation, material testing, and data recording while ensuring adherence to industry standards and safety regulations.Key Responsibilities:Assist in conducting tests on concrete, aggregates, and other construction materials.Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and tools.Collect, label, and store concrete samples for testing and analysis.Perform slump tests, compressive strength tests, and other quality control assessments.Record and maintain accurate test results and documentation.Assist senior lab technicians and engineers in research and project work.Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and procedures.Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the lab space.Assist with troubleshooting and calibrating testing equipment.Be prepared to be trained to batchRequirements:Diploma or Degree in Materials Science, Civil Engineering, or related field preferredPrior experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in concrete or construction materials testing.Basic knowledge of laboratory testing methods and industryStrong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.Good mathematical and analytical skills.Ability to lift and handle heavy materials as required in testing procedures.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Proficiency in basic computer applications for data entry and reporting. Experience with concrete mix design and quality control. Familiarity with non-destructive testing methods.
