Job Description


Duties/Pligte

  • Researching, configuring and setting up hardware according to standards and guidelines;
  • Installing and configuring drivers and software according to standards and guidelines;
  • Performing regular updates according to security regulations to ensure that equipment performs optimally, data privacy is maintained and devices are protected from attacks;
  • Troubleshooting device failures or bugs and providing solutions to restore functionality;
  • Keeping accurate records of repairs and solutions for future reference;
  • Maintaining procedures for call logging, reporting and self-help guides;
  • Offering timely technical support, both remote and onsite, and teaching users how to optimally utilise their devices;
  • Detecting and removing malware and viruses and assisting with cyber security incidents;
  • Providing consultation to users in terms of technical specifications and procedures for e-waste removal;
  • Offering technical support to set up and configure mobile devices;
  • Configuring new equipment with the User State Migration Tool (USMT) (profile setup, data transfer, third party software and printer configurations).




  • Navorsing, konfigurasie en opstelling van hardeware volgens standaarde en riglyne;
  • Installasie en konfigurasie van drywers en sagteware volgens standaarde en riglyne;
  • Gereelde opdaterings volgens sekuriteitsregulasies om te verseker dat rekenaartoerusting optimaal funksioneer, dataprivaatheid gehandhaaf word en toerusting teen kuberaanvalle beskerm is;
  • Foutopsporing van rekenaartoerusting en oplossings om funksionaliteit te herstel;
  • Akkurate rekordhouding van herstelwerk vir latere verwysing;
  • Onderhou prosedures vir die aanteken van versoeke, verslaglewering en selfhelp-gidse;
  • Tydige tegniese ondersteuning, beide op-perseel en af-kampus, en leer gebruikers hoe om rekenaars optimaal te gebruik;
  • Opspoor en verwyder van malware en virusse, en verleen bystand tydens kubersekuriteit-insidente;
  • Konsultasie met gebruikers oor tegniese spesifikasies en prosedures vir die verwydering van e-afval;
  • Voorsien tegniese ondersteuning vir die opstel en konfigurasie van mobiele toestelle;
  • Konfigurasie van nuwe toerusting deur middel van die User State Migration Tool (USMT) (profielopstelling, data oordrag, derdeparty-sagteware en drukkerkonfigurasies).


Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
  • A two-year diploma in IT or a related field;
  • At least two years' experience as a computer technician or desktop support specialist;
  • A sound understanding of the Windows operations systems and Microsoft Office applications;
  • A fundamental understanding of Apple's hardware and software;
  • A fundamental understanding of computer equipment and IT components;
  • Knowledge of a ticketing system;
  • Good problem-solving and listening skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Excellent written and administrative skills;
  • Skilled in working with people, must be patient and have the ability to deliver excellent customer service;
  • The ability to work unsupervised in a stressful, dynamic environment;
  • The ability to work and collaborate in cross-functional teams.



Candidates short-listed for this position will be required to complete a technical test.



  • `n Twee-jaar diploma in IT of `n verwante veld;
  • Minstens twee jaar se ervaring as rekenaartegnikus of as ondersteuningspesialis;
  • Grondige kennis van die Windows-bedryfstelsels en Microsoft Office-toepassings;
  • Grondige kennis van Apple se hardeware en sagterware;
  • Deeglike begrip van rekenaartoerusting en IT-komponente;
  • Kennis van `n werkkaartstelsel;
  • Goeie probleemoplossing- en luistervaardighede;
  • Goeie skriftelike en mondelinge kommunikasievaardighede in Engels;
  • Uitstekende skriftelike en administratiewe vaardighede;
  • Moet met mense kan werk, geduldig wees en goeie klixc3xabntediens kan lewer;
  • Die vermoxc3xab om sonder toesig en onder druk in 'n dinamiese omgewing te kan werk;
  • Die vermoxc3xab om in kruis-funksionele spanne saam te kan werk.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling
  • Knowledge of trends and life cycles of operating systems and software, as well as licensing usage rights;
  • Knowledge of core ITIL processes of service requests, incident-, problem- and change management;
  • Knowledge of data en security protocols;
  • Good time management and organising skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Afrikaans;
  • The ability to learn quickly and adapt.
