Job Objectives

  • Provide support to Divisional Offices and Home Office on regulatory requirements by identifying the regulatory requirements applicable to the business; analysing and understanding the regulatory requirements and its impact on the business; and by recommending workable / practical ways of implementing adequate control measures, by following a risk-based approach.
  • Develop relevant training and communications content that serves to build compliance knowledge in the business. Drive increased awareness of the Business Compliance Framework and applicable policies, standards, and procedures aimed to reduce non-compliance and increase adherence to sound, ethical practices.
  • Assess legal compliance and support the legal team to identify deficiencies in internal controls, policies and other contractual orientated agreements and templates.
  • Support the Legal & Credit Manager with administrative and other inputs when making recommendations for closure of compliance findings.
  • Understand and stay up to date with current trends in Group compliance. Actively share insights and information with relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide inputs and support related to compliance research.
  • Provide support with ad hoc multi-disciplinary compliance projects, which include, but is not limited to new laws and regulations to be implemented, due diligence reviews of third parties and/or employees, strategic planning sessions, etc.
  • Keep the Legal & Credit Manager informed of the level of compliance being achieved by completing reports as required.
Qualifications
B.Com Law or equivalent degree.
Experience
+2 year's experience in a Legal Office and/or Group compliance support capacity in Group Governance and Compliance team with specific exposure to governance, compliance and risk practices within the context of Group wide frameworks, policies, procedures and guidelines.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Exposure to applying King IV principles, relevant laws, regulations and best practices as they relate to the Group and specific business areas.
  • Exposure to Group related monitoring mechanisms and audits.
  • Understanding and exposure to creating and managing compliance related knowledge assets for alignment, learning and guidance.
  • Any additional exposure to Group wide / cross-functional matrix structures.
