Job Description


The successful incumbent will be responsible for analyzing and monitoring regulatory and compliance risk indicators to ensure risks to the Bank and Strategic Alliance Partners are mitigated. Plan monitoring activities to be undertaken over a defined period, for example, review of specific policies and procedures, a compliance risk assessment, routine risk-based monitoring. Minimum Requirements QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees (Auditing; Risk; Legal)
  • Diploma in Compliance Management/Auditing (Ideal)
  • Compliance Practitioner (Ideal)
EXPEREINCE
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years' compliance experience with exposure to implementing methodology and performing compliance monitoring specifically in Business Banking
  • At least 3 years regulatory and compliance monitoring experience in a Bank, specifically Retail, Business Banking and trading environments (ideal)
Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to: Analysis and Reporting
  • Analyse and review information to ensure accuracy of information and correct processes followed. Identify relevant breached thresholds as to identify potential risks and trends and ensure compliance. Communicate and follow up on identified risks, trends and corrective actions to be taken by relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide an oversight of risk indicators by reviewing reports submitted by stakeholders to governance forums and structures.
Risk Management Plans
  • Compile quality Compliance Risk Management Plans on applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain Risk Management Plans for each Business Unit
    Compliance Monitoring
  • Prepare a risk-based monitoring plan that supports continuous monitoring of compliance for each Business Unit
  • Conduct reviews for each business unit in accordance with the Compliance coverage plan
  • Perform continuous Compliance Monitoring on applicable regulatory requirements bank wide and at relevant third parties.
    Reporting
  • Reporting of the level of compliance, to each applicable Act, to operational management and the Head of the relevant business units
  • Obtaining details of proposed corrective measures to ensure compliance going forward
  • Stay abreast of developments in field of expertise, ensuring personal and professional growth. Identify opportunities to improve or enhance business processes.
Issue Tracking
  • Maintenance of the issue tracking database to track issues raised
  • Tracking of generic compliance risk indicators (e.g. fines, penalties, regulatory relationships, regulatory developments, etc.) and develop bespoke Key
  • Risk Indicators (KRIs) for specific regulatory requirements
  • Monitor the state of compliance in the business taking into account the culture, results of internal audit reviews, Risk and Control Self-Assessments, etc.
Stakeholder relationships
  • Maintain stakeholder relationships with other co-assurance functions (e.g. Risk and Internal Audit), specialised regulatory change initiatives, and specialist Compliance officers
Surveys
  • Conducting management surveys as an additional measure to encourage managerial control

  • AML/CFT Legislation
  • Protection of Personal Information Act (PoPIA)
  • Consumer Protection Act
  • Treating Customers Fairly
  • National Credit Act
