Responsibilities:

• Legal Compliance in Freight Forwarding: Monitor and ensure compliance with South African laws and regulations governing freight forwarding and logistics operations.
• Assist with maintaining ISO 9001 certification of the company.
• Contract Management for Logistics: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to freight forwarding, transportation, and logistics services.
• Ensure that contracts comply with relevant local and international regulations.
• Customs and Import/Export Compliance: Oversee customs compliance for import and export activities and assist with SARS inquiries when needed.
• Stay abreast of changes in customs regulations and update internal processes accordingly.
• Transportation Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, including licensing and permits.
• Collaborate with relevant authorities to maintain necessary certifications.
• Risk Management in Logistics: Identify and assess legal and compliance risks associated with freight and logistics operations as per ISO 9001 regulations.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with the operations team.
• Promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct within the company.

• LLB or Bachelor's degree in Law.
• 5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience as a Legal and Compliance Officer in the freight forwarding and logistics industry in South Africa.
• In-depth knowledge of South African and international laws and regulations relevant to freight forwarding and logistics.
• Familiarity with customs regulations, transportation laws, and industry standards.
