We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Compliance Manager to join our compliance division at THINK. This pivotal role involves overseeing internal and external audits, assessing financial and program controls, providing recommendations for process improvement, and capacity building of team members. The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting financial integrity, compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within a non-profit setting.
Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Oversee and manage both internal and external audit processes.
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure timely and efficient audits.
  • Analyse audit outcomes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure that the organisation adheres to all regulations and standards.
  • Stay updated on relevant legislative changes and update internal protocols accordingly.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of audit processes, findings, recommendations, and capacity building.
  • Draft, review, and update the organisationxe2x80x99s policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all agreements, MOUs, and contracts entered into by the organisation comply with statutory requirements and the internal policies.
  • Work with the legal team to address any discrepancies or issues.
  • Develop and implement training programs for staff on organisational controls, funder guidelines, and compliance best practices.
  • Continually assess and identify areas of improvement for staff knowledge and performance in matters of compliance.
  • Maintain a resource bank for staff to access and familiarise themselves with compliance materials.
  • Collaborate closely with the fundraising and grants management team to ensure all funder guidelines are well-understood and adhered to.
  • Monitor project implementations to guarantee they align with funder stipulations.
  • Report any discrepancies or potential issues to senior management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams offer guidance and support to ensure compliance with organisation policies and regulations.
  • Encourage and uphold ethical conduct and financial integrity throughout the organisation.
  • Set an example of ethical behaviour and adherence to organisational values and culture.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages growth, collaboration, and teamwork within the compliance team.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as SAIPA, CIMA, ACCA, SAICA or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years proven experience in internal auditing , risk management or compliance in an NGO environment.
  • Experience within the NGO environment, or with donor-funded projects, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the unique compliance challenges faced by non-profits can be beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance standards applicable to non-profit organisations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and engage staff at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical mindset, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
