Under the overall supervision and guidance of the Chief of Communication (P4), Africa Services Unit (ESARO) the Communications Officer (Multimedia) will be a key member of the regional communication team and will work closely with relevant stakeholders in ESARO, WCARO, PFP, DGCA to plan, gather, produce and disseminate compelling visual stories that will contribute to get children's and women's issues in sub-Saharan Africa into the public domain through news media and social media, strengthen political will in support of UNICEF's mission and objectives, drive engagement on UNICEF-owned online channels and set the scene for successful advocacy on development and humanitarian issues on the continent, partnership and resource mobilization.

Purpose for the job:
The purpose of the post is to produce, disseminate and manage flow and quality of multimedia content to engage national, regional and global news media on child rights issues, and support regional communication and advocacy campaigns, partnership and resource mobilization efforts. The incumbent will also be expected to provide a full scope of visual storytelling skills in the field such as scriptwriting, photography, videography and video editing; as well as supervising flow and quality of multimedia content provided by freelance creators. The position is based in Johannesburg, South Africa and part of the Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office.
