Job Summary As a Commissioning Engineer specializing in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, testing, and commissioning of BESS projects. Your role will involve working closely with project managers, design teams, and field technicians to ensure the successful integration and functionality of BESS systems.

Responsibilities:

Testing, Troubleshooting, and Repairing:

• Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) components, including batteries, inverters, control systems, and associated electrical equipment.
• Perform functional tests and simulations to ensure proper operation of BESS systems, including system integration, communication protocols, and emergency shutdown procedures.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to field technicians during the installation and commissioning phases.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including utility companies, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance with industry standards and grid interconnection requirements.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to BESS commissioning, and provide recommendations for process improvements.

Administration:

• Create comprehensive commissioning reports, including documentation of test procedures, results, and recommendations for system optimization.
• Identify and troubleshoot technical issues that arise during the commissioning process, working collaboratively with field technicians and engineering teams to resolve them.
• Conduct on-site inspections and assessments to verify compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with project managers and design teams to develop commissioning plans and schedules for BESS projects.

Reporting:

• Regular report updates to manager.

Essential Requirements:

• Grade 12
• NQF Level 8 Honours/ 4 Year Degree/ Postgraduate Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• 5 years' supervisory working experience.
• Working knowledge of SAP; OHS Act; ISO Standards; Electrical Market/Industry
• Advanced knowledge in Electrical Design and Project Management.
• Exceptional attention to detail while multi-tasking.
• Microsoft Office packages.
