Job Description

The Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy was established in 2006, a pioneering initiative of St Stithians College to provide educational growth opportunities for students and teachers based in public school. The Academy has evolved around four programmes, a Teacher Intern Programme; a Saturday School from Grades 9 to 12; a Teacher Development Programme; and the Academic Scholarship Programme to attend St Stithians College.

Qualification and Experience

A relative degree/certificate (fundraising, business management, stakeholder management or equivalent); Administrative management experience, as it applies to fundraising and project management Analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills Sound Financial Literacy Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills including experience in research and report writing Proactive self-starter traits Strategic thinking and planning abilities A good understanding of the Corporate Social Investment/Responsibility, NGO/NPO/PB and education (government and independent schools) sectors in South Africa Passion for improving education in South Africa Proven track record of successful fundraising A good understanding of donor report requirements

The key responsibilities of this position are to:

Drive the fundraising for the strategic projects for the Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy Source new strategic fundraising partnerships Prospect and draft funding proposals Present fundraising proposals to prospective donors Exceptional relationship building skills * Any staff member working within a school is required to have a sexual offender's clearance certificate
