My client a leading and well-known company requires a Commercial Manager to join their team in Ottowa South, Durban.This senior position is reporting to the Group Financial Director.CORE PURPOSE OF THE JOBThe Commercial Manager will be required to ensure that the commercial objectives of the business are appropriately managed, and the commercial strategy is developed and delivered in accordance with the requirements of the business.The Commercial Manager will be responsible for the strategic management of the Commercial Team which includes Estimating, Procurement, Stock Management, Despatch as well as Supplier and Commercial Contracts and Tenders.Further to this, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with Company commercial procedures and corporate governance requirements, reporting on working capital and work in progress, managing business risk and maximising margins.This role has 7 direct reports and 73 indirect reports.REQUIREMENTS:A Bachelors degree in Finance, Management Cost Accounting.5 10 years experience in a similar senior role with a medium to large organisation with experience on estimating management, financial analysis, economics, business processes reporting and documenting.Printing knowledge will be a huge advantageProject Management skills.SA Citizens onlyMust be Criminal ClearPreference will be given to Durban based candidatesBehaviours Skills and Attributes:Team based dynamicsDisplays an entrepreneurial approachStrong customer focus and understandingFinancial administration skillsBusiness acumen skillsSystems OrientatedCommercial Market awarenessStatistical and Measurement orientatedPerformance drivenManagement and leadership skillsGovernance RequirementsBasic Conditions of Employment ActLabour Relations ActOccupational Health and Safety ActPolicies and ProceduresSkills Development ActCompanys ActCorporate GovernanceBEE strategyKEY PERFORMANCE AREASEstimating and PricingEnsure the Estimating team produces accurate quotes on time and in line with organisational goals.Ensure systems and controls are in place to deliver management information to effect continuous improvement.Ensure market related competitive quotes are given to sales.Plays a strategic role in analysing the companys pricing models against competitor pricing.Evaluates, aligns and develops competitive estimating standards which accurately reflect production capabilities as well as outwork suppliers.Oversee the work of the estimators for consistency and compliance with departmental standards.Assesses the hourly rate recovery model and implements the increase in hourly rates that will ensure recovery of overheads and material costs to maintain market competitiveness. Liaise with Sales to review pricing and ensure estimates are converted to orders.Ensure the Estimating team liaises with the creative studio and they are supplying accurate and timeous work maps to the Estimating team.Maximize productivity of the Estimating team.ProcurementManage and be accountable for procurement with the financial effect of all elements within their scope (Ink, consumables and outwork).Ensuring best practice in procurement and work towards a true JIT stock system. xe2x96xaa Ensure that the Procurement Manager sources new products and innovation and benchmark pricing against the broader markets.Responsible for strategic procurement to ensure budgeted material percentage is achieved.Negotiate competitive pricing, terms and rebates with suppliers and manage key supplier performance to ensure that delivery dates meet required expectations.Work closely with production and sales to ensure accurate 3-6-month paper forecasting is prepared monthly to facilitate efficient procurement and stock management.Follow up on Account Supplier queries for payment ensuring corrective action procedures are in place and agreed to by the responsible parties.Participate in Group Procurement reviews and cost reduction exercisesResponsible for service level agreements. Stock Management and Reporting on Raw Material WarehouseManagement of raw material stock and WIP in line with budgets including effective management of obsolete stock.Ensure physical stock count variances are fully investigated and counter measures put in place before signing off any variance discrepancies.Oversee the warehouse function to ensure that stock is issued timeously to support an uninterrupted flow of production.Finished Goods WarehouseOversee the warehouse team that manages the sales orders are executed on time, and ensure that;Finished goods stock items and quantities are accurately recorded on Business Central.Maintain sufficient stock levels to meet customer sales orders and to manage re-orders and reprints.Sales orders are timeously delivered and reported on. xe2x9exa2 All delivered sales orders have signed delivery notes.CostingConduct analyses on throughput sales and material usage by product and press to identify strategic focus areas for improvement.Analyse job costs consumable usage, stock write offs and transport costs to turnover on a monthly basis and compares to monthly income statement to determine alignment or address discrepancies.Oversee the job costing / de costing to evaluate and understand variancesResponsible for margin reports and material percentage reports.Evaluates Work in Progress (WIP) on a monthly basis and ensure that turnover is accurate in the month of production (cost of sales).DespatchTo direct and oversee the management of the despatch department ensuring the accurate and on time delivery of all products.Ensure quality measures are in place to check materials before they are dispatched. Contracts and TendersReview key elements of current contracts (in conjunction with the Group Financial Director and Head of Sales) to ensure compliance with relevant standards of measurement and pricing.Build and maintain an effective contract and tender process ensuring the accurate and competitive pricing of contract and tender calculations.Co-ordinate with the relevant departments to collate all required information for tenders, e.g. BEE certificate, ESD initiatives, HR Policies, Headcounts, Procurement, etc.Manage and control the timeous completion of tenders.Develops and controls relationships with successful contract/tender customers B.E.E. Scorecard Enterprise and Supplier DevelopmentManage the above aspect with due direction / guidance from the Group B.E.E. Steering Committee.Key touchpoints in this regard are:Obtaining and reviewing / validating financial / spend data from Finance / Business Analyst.Evaluate new and existing suppliers to ensure that they meet the Group BEE requirementsStrategic review of spend based on required BEE outcomes.Be part of Procurement Business Improvement and ProjectsEvaluating business processes to anticipate future requirements, identify areas for improvement, and develop and implement solutions to achieve this.Establishing norms and standards of departmental performance.To investigate shortfalls and issues in current business processes.Define and identify projects that will drive productivity within the department.Ensure all projects are completed on time, within scope and budget.Assesses risks associated with various change initiatives and suggest and implement actions to manage any negative impacts.Manage financial and contractual risks.Research ideas in the industry, work creatively and keep up to date with innovation.
