ABOUT THE COMMERCIAL EXCELLENCE TEAM

The Commercial Excellence Team at AstraZeneca AfriCAN cluster is a group of catalysts with the purpose of delivering exceptional work that enables the organization to bring our medicines to patients. What youxe2x80x99ll do?

The successful candidate In this role will provide strategic direction to, lead, and guide the -Commercial Excellence department to ensure strong business partnering with commercial leaders and stakeholders. Accountabilities include SFE, BI and Analytics, and Learning and Development for the African Cluster as well as Business Development and Channel Management in South Africa. They will lead strategy development and drive execution excellence to the highest standard as part of a high-performance culture within the organization and actively applying an enterprise leadership mindset.

Typical accountabilities will include:

Commercial Strategy

Provides strategic direction & leads, guides, evaluates the commercial excellence team to manage the overall sales force effectiveness and business development strategies.

Develop and manages day to day execution of Launch excellence strategy across the cluster.

Ensures strong business partnering between Com Ex Team and commercial leaders re forecasting and analytics.

Leads the Business Planning and forecasting for the commercial teams during the various business review cycles. (RBU1, RBU2 and MTP)

Sets up and manages monthly Business reporting including SFE, Business analytics, distribution chain in collaboration with Business and finance.

Accountable for brand performance and sales profitability, as well as resource allocation

South Africa: Responsible for integrated KAM strategy across all Channels of the Distribution chain, including wholesalers, distributors, Retail and Tenders

Ensure Commercial Excellence strategy development and implementation.

Develops, manages, and implements business processes and controls that maximize productivity and profitability of sales resources. Collaborates with executives and area sales management to ensure that strategies are supported throughout the organization.

Evaluates business activities so that ComEx strategies and objectives are established in alignment with the corporate vision to achieve profitable operations for the company.

Acts as a key member of the African Cluster Leadership team, driving the commercial strategy across the company.

Proactively establishes, reviews, and recommends changes to ensure that organisational structure maximises organisational performance.

Update to Country Scorecards through regular tracking and communication to SLT and MEA

Accelerate Omni-Channel adoption across African Cluster, find innovative solutions to EXPANSION Strategy

Learning & Development

Oversees Learning & Development function in building, leading, and motivating teams.

Ensures appropriate skills and competencies are available within the organisation.

Support the business by improving capabilities in line with business and brand strategy.

Business Development

Leads Business development initiatives to increase companyxe2x80x99s revenue and profitability through licencing, partnership, and local manufacturing projects.

Ensures that targeted opportunities are identified, evaluated and, as appropriate, presented to the business effectively and efficiently. These may be in/out licensing, divestment, acquisition, or alliance opportunities.

Manages the relationship with the potential partners in a timely and professional manner; ensures that AZ remains competitive in 3rd party deal process.

Positively develops, manages, and maintains stakeholder relationships with senior AZ colleagues, Legal and Finance.

Corporate Responsibility

Maintains highest ethical standards and work in a spirit of AstraZeneca Code of Ethics, following rules & norms set by corporate policies.

Ensures compliance of activities with all local regulations

Ensures that all conducted activities are done in accordance with local legislation and corporate standards.

Timely reports (as per respective procedures): health/environment/wellbeing related accidents; adverse events that you became aware about; change in status of your Conflict of Interest.

Ensures the direct reports are aware of Corporate Responsibility expectations and follow them in daily work.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Postgraduate Degree/MBA with Commercial/ Marketing qualification

People leadership experience in marketing/commercial/sales and commercial strategy and Business Development experience

Experience with pre-launch, launch and established brands.

Strong commercial mindset, understanding of the marketing planning process, forecasting, budgeting, and managing P&L

Strong judgment, decision-making & influence skills

Ability to effectively influence the implementation of key brand-related activities across a wide range of levels.

Leadership skills - sets high personal standards and takes personal responsibility.

Actively Builds networks & Collaborates: Effectively building formal and informal relationship networks inside and outside the organisation.

Negotiate powerfully and persuade effectively to achieve set goals.

Business Insight and Intelligence: Applying knowledge of the business and the marketplace to advance the organisationxe2x80x99s goals. Knowing about competitors and the external environment.

Drives results: Consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances.
