Job Summary Our client is seeking a Legal Collections Supervisor to oversee a dynamic team of Collections Controllers, ensuring effective debt recovery processes, excellent customer engagement, and continuous improvement across the collections function.
You'll play a key role in managing performance, resolving escalated issues, maintaining stakeholder relationships, and ensuring adherence to credit control processes that support timely debt recovery and reduce bad debt exposure.
This role is based in Sandton, Johannesburg North.
Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and guide the pre-legal collections team, ensuring targets and service standards are met.
• Oversee day-to-day collections activities, including managing customer queries, reconciliations, and call quality.
• Monitor and allocate workloads effectively to ensure high productivity and accuracy.
• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline collections operations.
• Ensure prompt follow-up on overdue accounts and initiate handovers to third-party attorneys when necessary.
• Participate in collections meetings, system enhancement projects, and campaign planning (SMS and email).
• Maintain strong communication channels with internal departments and external stakeholders.
• Handle escalated account queries and ensure effective and timely resolution.
• Develop and motivate a high-performing team through coaching, performance reviews, and ongoing training.
• Manage leave schedules, recruitment activities, and employee engagement initiatives to promote team wellness and retention.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• Grade 12 is essential.
• Credit Management 1 - 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Advanced Excel skills are required.
• Minimum 2 years' experience as a Pre-Legal Collections Team Lead or Supervisor.
• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Pre-Legal Collections Controller.
