Key Responsibilities


1. Strategy



1.1. Understand the importance of revenue, productivity, chargeability, and the client relationship and effectively apply this understanding to daily tasks.



2. Operations



2.1. Responsible for delivering specified deliverables (see below) to clients in accordance with internal and external deadlines



2.2. Ensure appropriate controls, policies and processes are adhered to



2.3. Create and maintain relevant records



2.4. Assist with implementing changes to procedures, guidelines, etc.



2.5. Escalate client/work issues to Accountants/Senior Accountants



2.6. Assist other members of the team



2.7. Collect appropriate data from clients and input into database as required



2.8. Report to Senior Accountants or Manager as required



2.9. Answer questions in a timely manner



2.10. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with clients and colleagues.



2.11. Deal with, act on, or assign correspondence from third parties including tax authorities, lawyers, partners, etc.



2.12. Support the implementation and updating of systems



2.13. Various other miscellaneous tasks as instructed from time to time



3. Client service



3.1. Support clients with service delivery matters



3.2. Attend client meetings, as required



3.3. Prepare client work in accordance with procedures



3.4. Work with clients to ensure required data is received in good time



3.5. Prepare and submit approved returns, submissions, accounts, reports et al as applicable



4. Financial and commercial management



4.1. Post time accurately in the internal time management system keeping to relevant submission deadline



4.2. Identify opportunities for additional work with clients, ensuring identification, understanding of requirement, delivery and billing thereof



4.3. Ensure the correct reporting of time spent for work on portfolios



4.4. Assist with client billing and debtor management.



5. Technical Expertise



5.1. Liaise with tax authorities and TMF offices on technical issues



5.2. Use specific software programs and maintain databases as required



5.3. Develop technical knowledge through reading and attendance at appropriate (internal and external) training courses, seminars, etc.



6. Key responsibilities (Capital Markets)



6.1. Assist with the processing of client payments, which includes the preparation of supporting schedules



6.2. Capture information in accounting system for Capital Markets clients. Including the following:



6.2.1. Banking and cashbook maintenance



6.2.2. Debtor and creditors maintenance and reconciliations



6.2.3. General ledger maintenance through adjusting journals



6.3. Processing transactions in the accounting system for complex and non-complex funds: asset deals, security pricing, foreign exchange spot and forward rates calculations as well as calculation of the fees, cash, and securities reconciliation.



6.4. Calculation and production of accurate accounting and cash management schedules of the various alternative investment funds (private equity, real estate, debt, other alternatives).



6.5. Analyze and perform waterfall reporting



6.6. Preparation of monthly and quarterly management reports



6.7. Review, test and reconcile the work and data received from third parties



6.8. VAT return preparation



6.9. Preparation of financial statements



6.10. Liaising with auditors and facilitating annual statutory audits



6.11. Populating corporate tax returns



6.12. Contribute to the upkeep of the monthly and annual trackers



6.13. Other ad-hoc duties related to Fund Administration and corporate secretarial tasks



6.14. Perform any other reasonable assignment requested by management



6.15. Personal utilization of 90% - whereby 90% of hours are aligned to client work and service

Key knowledge and experience:



Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in an accounting or finance?related role. Completed qualification in Commerce or a closely related financial or commercial field. At least 2 years of hands?on experience in full?function bookkeeping, e?filing, and/or use of tax submission software. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel,Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience working with bookkeeping systems and financial reporting software. Practical experience with SARS e?Filing and related tax compliance processes. Experience in operating and navigating banking platforms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders. Highly accurate, well?organized, and self?motivated, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
