We are looking for a Clinical Operations Excellence Head.

The Position

As our Clinical Operations Excellence Head, you will be heading up a quality-driven team of 3 senior-level clinical research professionals. As their Line Manager, you will be creating the empowerment culture in the team and developing necessary competencies, planning personal and professional development.

Your role will also be focused on developing and executing the clinical quality and effectiveness, short- and long-term CDC plans, setting and monitoring of clinical quality and effectiveness of performance targets in close cooperation with the CDC Head.

Additionally, you will be involved in:

  • Managing process improvements and implementation on the CDC level
  • Ongoing monitoring of the efficiency progresses in conducting clinical trials in CDC
  • Securing timely implementation and cementing of process and digital changes within Clinical
  • Initiating change aiming at continuous improvement of the clinical trial processes and practices
  • Representing CDC in cross functional project groups at regional/global levels
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have a health science degree and be fully proficient in English language.

Additionally, you should meet the following criteria:
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in clinical operations/ clinical trials execution in the Pharmaceutical industry or Clinical Research Organisation, including people management experience within clinical operations - at least 2-5 years as a Line Manager
  • Previous solid experience managing quality (e.g. CAPAs, audits and inspections, etc.) in clinical trials - at least 3 years as a Quality Lead / Quality Manager / Head of Quality
  • Strong background in delivering training
  • Ability to quickly analyse the clinical efficiency parameters and experience with the monitoring of clinical efficiency at multi-country level
  • Change management skills: able to drive change and implement new processes, strong people and negotiation skills, able to shift mindsets, communicate with impact and build relationships with stakeholders
You should also be able to be present in the office 3 days a week on a regular basis and be ready for occasional business trips (on average once per month).

The Department

Our Clinical Development Centers, part of the Clinical, Medical and Regulatory Departments, are the backbone in clinical trials and have the benefits of strengthened partnerships and launches. We conduct clinical trials in more than 50 countries around the world, in close collaboration with our affiliates, regions and global teams.

You will be part of our large, resourceful development team that plays a crucial role in the ambitious drug development programs at Novo Nordisk. Our highly motivated CDC-ZA team is composed of ~60 employees, and you will become a part of the management team, reporting directly to the CDC Head.

Your direct reports will be a team of senior-level individual contributors: Clinical Innovation Manager and 2 Clinical Quality & Training Managers.
