As a clinical dosimetrist working in treatment planning, you will be responsible for performing and supporting treatment planning operations at our partner/customer sites. In addition to routine planning, you will have the opportunity to participate in development work in treatment planning and clinical services. The role may involve assisting departments to develop new planning protocols and commission and validate new treatment techniques.

This will be primarily a home-based role; you will need to maintain regular communication with the customer clinical team and partake in daily team meetings and workload assignment. You will support one or more clinical partners, working collaboratively with the local radiation oncology team to produce high quality treatment plans to an agreed timeline, while ensuring that the highest standards of quality and safety are maintained in accordance with the local departmentxe2x80x99s protocols and procedures for radiation oncology treatment planning.

As a Dosimetrist, you will work closely with the local on-site dosimetry team. This includes, and is not limited to radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, nurses, department managers and other allied health professionals.

Specific Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for ensuring delivery of high-quality treatment plans in a timely manner and building strong relationships with key individuals at the partner/customer sites to ensure the success of the service.

You will adhere to clinical service standards at partner site: Ensuring that treatment plans are optimised appropriately to deliver the prescribed dose safely while sparing critical structures in accordance with protocols and Radiation Oncologist's requirements.

Have the requisite knowledge of human anatomy to identify and correct organ contours (OARs) using conventional treatment planning datasets (e.g. CT, MRI, PET-CT).

Where applicable, ensure full compliance with national regulations relating to the optimisation of radiotherapy treatments. Support the implementation of local patient safety standards and practices as required.

Automation: Advocate and help drive the introduction of automation in all areas of the treatment planning pathway, e.g. auto-contouring, plan checking, etc.

Ensure that treatment plan setup instructions and other relevant information is clearly documented in the R&V or EMR system or other location. Confirming that the instructions have been clearly communicated to the treatment team (e.g. correct use of immobilisation devices, compensators, wedges, field arrangement, and other treatment or imaging parameters).

Create and transfer reference images and quality assurance plans for pre-treatment verification imaging and QA measurements as per local practice (e.g. DRRs, CBCTs and other IGRT and SGRT data) as specified by the partner/customer site.

Support knowledge transfer to help develop capability within the local clinical teams: Facilitate collaboration and knowledge transfer to implement new technology from initial conception through to clinical operation.

Some travel may be required to support service development and attend Varian team meetings and new customer sites.

Skills and Expertise:

Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an independent Therapy Radiographer. A relevant higher diploma or degree in Therapeutic Radiography at NQF7 or equivalent. At least 3-5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in treatment planning/dosimetry and competence in all areas of treatment planning - including 3D, VMAT, SABR ,DIBH planning techniques.

Familiarity with modern treatment planning systems: specifically, Eclipse TPS and in-depth knowledge of record and verify (R&V) and electronic patient record (EMR) systems.

The ability to prioritize work tasks and maintain clear and concise communication with partner site and ensure accurate record keeping of work at all times.

Experience in all aspects of radiotherapy treatment planning, including image registration (CT, MRI and PET), inverse treatment planning, volumetric arc therapy and multi-criteria dose optimisation, etc.

Motivated and keen to implement change, be prepared to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service and support the clinical service. This may require working outside of standard office hours.

Display a high level of independence (be self-lead) with the ability to work efficiently and make decisions appropriately as necessary.

Have the requisite knowledge of anatomy, physiology, principals of clinical oncology and radiobiology, radiotherapy physics, and radiation safety to fulfill the role.

Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate the exchange of information with both radiation oncology colleagues and commercial partners inside and outside the business.

Problem solving: Good analytical and critical thinking skills with a proactive mindset and a can-do attitude.

Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Punctual and maintain a professional appearance when visiting partner/customer sites.
